Bluetooth lockup on lost pairing?

I am able to pair my 8525 with my 06 5 series BMW with no problem. However, I notice that if the phone pairs, and I drive around a bit, and then get out and shut off the car, or walk away from the car, the 8525 locks up. The green & blue lights still flash, but it does not respond to anything. Battery out-in restart, works again.

Now if I go to CommMgr and turn off bluetooth before I exit the car, everything is hunky-dorey. It seems that if the phone 'loses' bluetooth, it locks up on me.

Any ideas why this lock-up happens?

i have a 8525.. so far i've paired with my computer and headset with no problem

does this happen when you pair with other devices

The only other device I've ever used is a BT headset and it seemed to work just fine for me as well. Problem is only with the car so far. Although a thought just occurred to me, I'm wondering if having the phone in suspend mode when I exit impacts this behavior. More on this later...

My service advisor claims that the problem is my number of contacts. I have about 180. His claim is that the phone syncs ALL of them every time it pairs and too many can make the phone crash. He says he has heard of a utility that will control the flow of Bluetooth info from the phone and prevent a complete re-sync every time. Can anyone confirm any of this, or heard of any such utility?

In windows mobile 5, when you pair with bluetooth, you can select the profiles you want to allow for the pairing. For instance, you might have "headset" or "file exchange" (I don't remember the actual names). erase the BMW profile from your phone, re-pair from start, and remember not to allow every profile.

Also, I have a Dash that is probably pushing the max allowed contacts (I sync'd it from my work outlooks which contains well over 1000 contacts). I'm not sure how many of those transfered, but I've never had any freezing issue with Bluetooth, although it slows to a crawl when I select the "contacts" tab.

It only gives me the option of 'Hands Free' which is what I chose. I see no other options available.
