What happened with Cingular video and Media Max plans?

I have a Blackjack with mediamax 200 and have had no issues with data. I don't use cingular video much but I tried to use it today and got a message that in order to use cingular video I need the correct data plan. The only thing I have done since last watching something on cingular video was to up my family talk minutes plan from 550 to 1400, but I left the MM200 plan untouched.

There had been rumors/threats that cingular was going to get around to disabling cingular video on MM plans because it was officially not supposed to be supported, but there was apparently a loophole that many of us exploited in the way they serviced the plans that got us cingular video without having to subscribe to the PDA plan. This is not a deal breaker for me since I rarely used cingular video, but it is an annoyance and I certainly am not planning on paying $20 more a month for a few crappy videos. Anyone have similar experiences or thoughts on this matter?

That's funny because the Media Max 200 Plan specifically says
"UNLIMITED Cingular Video
Cingular Video brings you video clips of your favorite TV shows, music videos, movie trailers, comedians and sports highlights. Play high-quality news, sports, weather, and entertainment video clips on demand on your 3G phone. Plus, you can add exclusive video programming from HBO MobileSM and HBO Family MobileSM."

http://www.cingular.com/cell-phone-...atId=cat1470003

And the blackjack info page says:
"It plays: with Cingular Video and Cingular Music - exclusive TV content and your digital tunes."
http://www.cingular.com/cell-phone-...q_sku=sku840008

So the Blackjack officially plays CV, and Media Max 200 officially provides CV. I don't understand why it shouldn't work.
Yes, true, Media Max is not the plan that is offered on the Blackjack, but that shouldn't stop you from getting it.

CV is working right now on my BJ w/ MM 200...

spent a long time on the phone with Cingular. The problem had to be escalated to tech level and they couldn't fix it. They logged it as something that needs to be fixed and the tech noted that this is not an isolated problem but has previously been reported. Apparently I'm not the only one affected though others indicate that video works fine for them with MM200..very curious and I wonder if it is a regional problem

When I changed my plan I couldnt get Cingular Video to work with my Blackjack at all. After 3 weeks the problem corrected itself.

Question though...with the BJ and MM200 you can access the regular internet (not CV) and your Outlook email, etc right?

I switched from MM200 to the Next plan up for a month and lost my CV, I am back at MM200 and I still dont have it back this was about 2 months ago. I am cool with it though because we dont have 3g here yet and CV was pretty lame anyways. Why does V-Cast look soo much Cooler.

They told me that I couldnt use MM200 when I got my new sim card. Said I had to use the PDA Connect.

They're supposed to say that. The reality is that you CAN use it, you're just not supposed to have it (on a PDA or smart phone like a Blackjack.)
Do you still have it? Did they make you get rid of it? You can probably get it back.

I have grandfathered media works on my 8525, have used close to 800mb of data this month so far, stream CV, Resco Radio and the occasional tethering. Not a word out of them... not yet anyway. Theres proof that a "non-supported" plan actually can work.

Yea they made me drop it. I suppose I could just log on and get it back.

Everything is working fine for me. I just moved myself to the MM200 using the website. Not a problem.

lets start here. what have you done to modify your phone. 99% of the time people with this problem have changed the explorer settings on their phone. Either do a hard reset or change the settings back to default and CV should work again.

Exact same thing happened to me when I switched from an individual to family plan. I haven't called yet because I refuse to switch to a PDA plan and would rather not press my luck.

Did you change your plan originally because you had no internet?

Posted by: dream5hift

i had internet with the MM200. i changed to MM1500 because i needed more text.

Posted by: Matth3w

dreamshift..when you had the MM200...did you get any extra charges for using Outlook or regular internet? The place at Cingular told me I couldnt use MM200 with the BJ.

i got it to work now. i removed the MM1500 plan on OLAM and then added again. Restarted phone and it worked.
