3G upgrade?

Considering switching from T-mo to Cingular, but not sure yet.

When t-mo goes 3G at the end of this year/beginning of next year (already testing it in certain markets), their bandwidth will be a max of 14.x Mb/sec (I guess per tower?). Cingular's is 2.2Mbps. Since most people that I've talked to seem to get in the area of 700k on CIngular, the equivalent would be around 5Mb on the T-mo network.

Does anyone know if there are any rumors or speculation on whether Cingular plans to upgrade their HSDPA equipment to compete with the higher speeds that T-mo will have?

Thanks,

Let's wait to have this discussion circa mid-2008 when some of T-Mobile's 3G towers are actually up and running.

a lot of HOMES dont even have 5Mb. i get 1M consistently on my 8525. far faster than most would need at home, never mind a mobile device. i would make the switch if i were you, you will be much happier with the reception, and coverage that cingular offers.
