AKU stands for Adaptation Kit Update - which is like a software version that the guts of your phone runs, also known as firmware. There are many unofficial user created AKU ROM's out there to flash your phone with to give it added features, make it faster, and improve the battery life.

Installing such updates however, while they do have benefits, will essentially make a brick out of your phone if you screw up. So, take caution with whatever you decide to do.

Wirelessly posted (UTStarcom PPC-6700: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) Opera 8.60 [en])

I used this a while back and it worked fine on my 6700...

It's an older version of AIM for Windows CE, but I had no trouble with it. And it's free.

I don't use it any more since I moved to Alltel's My Circle which includes unlimited text messaging, and you can actually chat with an AIM user therough text. One less aplication on my 6700.

Yeah, I remember it being kind of funky. You have to do something that's not real obvious to bring up the login, but I don't remember exactly what. Try adding a buddy, or bringing up your buddy list, or sending a new message, or something like that. IIRC there isn't an actual "login" menu item... it asks you to log in when you do something like one of the above things.

im not sure what they mean by "host name"

Umm... install it and open it up? There's not much to it... it's pretty straightforward.

I see you are using Cricket... not sure how they handle data, but AIM has to be used with an Internet connection, so you either need a data plan or be connected through WiFi for it to work. It's not like text messaging.

Ummm. no its not that straight forward because i tried to install aim on my 6700 and there was no way to input screen name and password because that window doesn't popup like it's suppose to.

now what u gotta do is get on the internet or something like that, so there's a data session running, then like answerman said, try adding a buddy or writting a message and the login will come up for you...hopefully that helps...
