8525: file explorer vs. wmp

i recently acquired an 8525 for free 
so now i'm in the smartphone club! (funny i don't feel any smarter) anyway... i reformated my memory card in my computer and loaded up some music. at first it worked fine, but now wmp doesn't recognize the memory card, however files will play using wmp only if opened using file explorer - i just want playlists.
should i just reformat the card and try again? the only thing i can think might have caused this is removing the card while the device is on - but isn't it hot-swappable?
any help would be appreciated

You may wanna try deleting the DRM folder and MSMEDAata (or what ever is similar to those two) from the memory card... it worked for me a while back
