I have an unbranded/unlocked Motorola KRZR K1 and I wanted to know if I mod it to the Cingular FLEX will this enable the PTT feature for cingular (obiviously I'd have to buy the service) but right now the unbranded PTT feature is not compatible with the cingular PTT

I'm not sure if the PTT option works at all on the Cingular K1?

so do you know if the cingular PTT feature is a software feature or a hardware feature?

From what I remember it is a combo of both. FW then a part of the HW. I just don't remember what exactly. Sorry.

the phone has the ptt feature but is currently hidden within seem edits. You can easily enable it but without the proper setting then it can't be used.

but it is my understanding that the PTT feature on it now is Kiosk or something like taht and not compatible with cingular. So you are saying if I reflash/flex the phone then do some SEEM edits I can utilize the PTT feature?

It wouldn't matter whether you turned it on or not. The Kodiak PTT system is INCOMPATIBLE with Motorola's PTT implementation.

This was discussed to death here when the V557 was released - Cingular sold the phone but didn't use the PTT on it for the same reason.

There's talk of interoperability in the future, but it's not going to get you anywhere today.

So you're telling me it's a hardware issue not software then, right?
