was assembling it a snap? *there's my pun of the day.. lol* |

If you are installing a camera..how the heck are you going to manage that? Is there a port on the circuit board to plug in a camera? Thanks.

I stumbled onto this post a few days ago after cracking the LCD display on my 8525, and I have to say that I gained a serious appreciation for the quality of craftsmanship of HTC's devices after pulling mine apart. So, for anyone in the same situation as me, I first called Cingular, who said they'd send me a replacement phone for about $500. Looking for a less expensive solution, I called HTC America's support line, who said for about $175 I could send my phone to them and they'd replace the broken LCD. That still seemed a bit high, so I did some searching online and found that you can buy the replacement LCD for $50 to $75 (you can actually find these at cnn.cn, too). So, if you're willing to take on the risk of doing everything yourself, you can save some serious cash. Also, this may save you some time--the LCD is 2.8" and made by Toppoly, model TD028STEB1. Mine was part # 60H00037-01M, but as I understand it, 60H00037-00M works as well. You will most likely want to buy it with the digitizer attached--the digitizer is the soft part on top of the LCD that records stylus input. To get your old LCD out, follow the steps of this tutorial to the last one (picture 10), and then flip over the screen part, disconnect the ribbon at the bottom, and peel off the adhesive that binds the ribbon/film to the back of the LCD. Snap the new LCD back into the casing, then reattach the ribbon/film (using super glue if necessary--great suggestion!), reconnect the ribbon, then reassemble everything else as noted in the tutorial. I tend to be fairly conservative when it comes to removing tape inside of electronics, so I managed to get my phone apart without disconnecting the second ribbon mentioned in the tut (and since I wasn't changing the housing, this worked just fine). Finally, this may be of help to anyone who takes apart their 8525, either to switch the housing or to replace the LCD. About halfway through taking my phone apart, I noticed a small, black rubber item that wasn't on my desk when I started (see attached image if you're interested). It took a couple hours to figure out where it came from, but I finally located it. (It's actually not in the tutorial pictures either.) The item goes below and to the left of the mini USB port in the top left of picture 5 (directly above the first "i" in FLiPinoy9oNe6), and covers the corresponding metal piece in the top right of picture 5 (the long vertical piece directly above the "N" in FLiPinoy9oNe6). The hole at the bottom of the item lines up with the hole in the bottom of the phone housing between the mini USB port and the reset button. While I'm not positive, I assume that this is the mic housing, and I'm guessing the rubber item helps keep phone noise out of your calls. Best of luck, and have fun! PS The 14.6 kb attachment limit is pretty, well, limiting, so I apologize for the lack of context with this image. The black rubber item is pretty small--a little less than 1 cm long, and about .5 cm wide. |

I Used Cool Camera to use the front Camera to Take a picture but it's at a 90 degree Angle instead of Up right. I spoke to Developers of Cool Camera and they said they are aware of the problem and are working on it... That was a few moonths ago so I wouldn't hold my breath lol But the Front Camera Looks F*in SWEET !
