Email on 8125 - Xpress mail or simple?

I do not need the push email features available but would like my device (8125) to check email at least twice a day, or when I manually ask it to... Couple of questions:
- Set up - 8125 with Voice and MediaMax 200 plan (was on Razor)

1. Is Xpress mail worth the set up? Or should I just set up via Outlook Mobile? I will only be checking one personal account. Google account I may use the google mobile app, or set up same as personal via Outlook. I know this use data, but I will be checking only twice a day or when needed.

2. How do you get rid of the Xpress mail (Get Xpress Mail) item on the Today screen?

Thanks!

If you're only going to check a couple of times a day then Xpress mail is probably overkill, plus you need to keep a PC going 24/7 for it which might be a hassle for you (or not). If it's a google account it might be easiest to just check it with the java app whenever you feel the urge.

To get rid of the "Get Xpress Mail" thingy, change your home screen layout to something other than "Cingular" (like "Windows Default") in Settings->Home Screen.

As always, thanks! I had a 8125 before and this price ($49 refurb) was too low to pass up. I thought I had remembered that I skipped the whole xpress mail thingy...
