Recording from a Motorola cell (with permission!)

I am a life coach and need to record my coaching sessions on the phone for training purposes. (I have client permission and share the recordings with my clients.) I have a Olympus digital voice recorder (VN-3100) with a 3.5mm jack that I need to use with my Motorola Razr (from Verizon) I am wondering if a Motorola Headset Adapter SYN1504 (Emu to 3.5mm) will allow me to RECORD. I know that this adapter is used to listen to music on your phone and to take incoming calls so I am wondering if I can record while the phone is in use?
If this won’t work please, please, please give me an idea. I have spent hours trying to get a system to work at home AND at work.
