Toshiba 803T questions

Hello~ Back with more questions about the Toshiba 803T (Japanese version, unlocked).

I am going to Japan this summer and would like to use my phone over there. I believe I can just go to the Softbank store in Shibuya (English speaking staff!) and get like a prepaid SIM card or something. My question is, if I download anything from the Softbank/Vodafone network, will I be able to access the content I downloaded after I switch back to my T-Mobile SIM in the States? Or would the content be locked to the Softbank SIM?

How much internal memory does the phone have? Just curious since it seems to hold a fair amount.

And has anyone found a solution to the whole voicemail indicator via blank SMS thing? Whenever I receive a voicemail or after I check my messages, I receive a blank SMS instead of the voicemail indicator on the phone showing.

Also, does the phone take any other ringtone formats besides MMF (MA-5, I believe)? I've been making my ringtones using MMF. Is this my only choice?

Thanks in advance!

Softbank does NOT sell prepaid USIM cards. They're still relying on their old PDC network for prepaid accounts, by selling phones such as the 201SH and embedding phone number data into them (US CDMA style).

If you want to use your phone in Japan while on holiday, you need to either roam on Softbank (or DoCoMo's) network using your own carrier account, or you need to rent a Softbank USIM from the airport (I think US$5 a day or something).

Wow, crappy.
I don't think prepaid T-Mobile allows you to roam outside the country, and if they do, I'm sure it's expensive. Shucks.

Make sure you sign up for international roaming or whatever before you go. you can do that at t-mobile's website for free or call them. and you'll be roaming on docomo's network in the kanagawa prefecture.
