Where to buy imported phones?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I read a lot of talk on here about phones from Korea, Japan, etc.

Are there any online stores that sell imported phones? Just how possible is it to get one registered with a service here in the US? Does anyone have experiences to share? Thanks!

You can always check Ebay but for having them work on our networks I donno about that. Some one else with more mobile smarts will have to help you on that one.

im in the same boat. try the marketplace forum. if they offer unlocking service you can use yahoo japan auctions a middleman like https://www.fromjapan.co.jp/en/ or http://www.bid-service.jp/. if can find a japanese site selling a phone you like bid service can help with that to.

Keep in mind, many Japanese phones will only work in Japan. They run on CDMA2100 which isn't compatible here int he US. Also, you will get NO technical support here in the US if you need it.

I have a M1000 now...

And I'm waiting for the F904i by Fujitsu (Foma/Ntt Docomo) to get relieced... so I can BUY it...

If a Japanese phone has the WorldWing ability, it will work here...

Not if your US carrier is Verizon or Sprint.

I personally used it with Tmobile and Cingular...

Everything works on it. Including the WAP access. (Tzones and MediaNet)

go to any asian mobile phone store in places like LA, SF or New York. You get the idea.

chinatown
or koreatown/japtown...

keep in mind that only gsm phones will work in the us on t-mobile or cingular
cdma phones can work, but are extremely hard to get activated
u would need admin access at verizon or sprint.
