HUGE PROBLEM xv6700 PLEASE HELP!!!

I've just spent the better part of 5 hours trying to fix my xv6700. I bought it in January on ebay. It actually worked pretty well for the first 3 months. It had some problems. It would freeze occasionally when I tried to answer it, and flight mode would turn on randomly sometimes, but it worked for the most part.

Then, out of nowhere, I couldn't talk on the phone for more than 3 minutes to ANYONE, and the call would just stop. It would either turn flight mode on, or the call would just end. Obviously, this was very frustrating to myself and my clients. I read up on some things on this forum, and thought I might need to download the update. So, I called Verizon to help me do that.

The first person I talked to told me the download was not the problem. She had me do a hard reset and then I re-sync-ed my phone to get all my info back. The first call dropped. The second person I talked to wanted to replace my phone but wouldn't do it unless I could provide the original purchasers info. The third person I called checked my phone and realized I already have the update (Windows Mobile 5.0 update).

Basically, my options at this point are:

1. contact the ebay guy to see if he will give me his phone number so I can try to get a refurbished phone (I e-mailed him, but it's a long shot).

2. Buy out of my contract for $175 and switch to T-Mobile (which has cheaper plans anyway), or maybe Sprint.

3. Switch back to my non-Windows phone and live without e-mail on the road (cheapest, but worst option).

If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE help me.

I also have one other question---Is there any way to make my e-mail work on a Sidekick, if I went in that direction? The whole reason I like this phone is the pull out keyboard, and Sidekicks are a cheaper version of what I have. The only thing I need is my e-mail. I have a feeling it won't work, but my e-mail is from an Outlook server. BUT, we do have a way to remotely get our e-mail online. Is it possible to push it from the remote site instead (that is, if it won't work with my current way of doing it?)

I'd try the upgrade anyway. You can get the upgrade here:
http://www.utstar.com/pcd/Downloads.aspx
Just select the xv6700.

That should reflash the radio and OS so if your device still disconnects then it is probably a hardware problem. The other thing to look for is to search here (or ppcgeeks or pdaphonehome) for the hack to disable the flight mode. It is a simple single registry edit to disable the flight mode.

Good luck!

Thanks, I actually tried the download and nothing happened. I guess the biggest problem is, that it's not always the flight mode that makes it disconnect. Sometimes it just does it on it's own.

Thanks.
