Since its meant for consumers do you think that ATT will offer a reasonable plan or allow you to use a mediamax plan with it? I wouldnt mind having a blackberry just the price of $39.99 and the extra blackberry data plan is crazy.

Posted by: GregGebhardt

It will be just like all the other Blackberrys and will require a full Blackberry Plan.

Media max will not get any data.

The price is actually $29.99/month, and that's possibly the best blackberry price for blackberry data in the industry.

The individual plan is only $29 a month.

A Blackberry is a Blackberry and you need a Blackberry data plan for it. The 8300 isn't any more "consumer" than the 8100 and the 8100 requires the same BB data plans. "Consumer", with regard to the 8300, only means that the device has a camera, really (i.e. you can't bring it into certain corporate or government facilities).

The BIS data plan is the "consumer" data plan.

If you think $29 for the BIS data plan is high you need to check out Verizon, Sprint or any of the non-US carriers (who don't even offer unlimited BB data plans). $29 is really less than middle-of-the-road if you bother to actually shop around rather than think of TMO as the industry rule of measure.

I guess people are going to complain about paying for stuff unless it's free no matter what the price...

Isnt every phone meant for the consumer?"

Posted by: briareus

Not specifcally. The 8800 was created to meet the needs of RIM's corporate user base that requires a BB without camera. I don't understand why this is the case since media support and cameras are still new to BB's but people seem to forget RIM's history and how the BB was regarded as a purely business device. That doesn't mean that non-corporate customers can't use the 8800. I use one -- on BES even -- as a personal device.

In any case, the 8300 has been called a "consumer' device but it's really just in reference to the camera. The 8300 isn't any less capable and is just as much a Blackberry as any other model.

TMO's BIS plan is only $19.99 as an add on to a voice plan. Their BES plan is only $29.99.

Does the 8300 have built in GPS?

No disrespect to TMobile because they do have great customer service. However, when I said "the industry", I was not including "bargin wireless" companies like TMobile. They have to have the lowest prices on everything because they have the most limited coverage. It's very obvious. So for me, I don't really compare them. Just the big 3. If I want to go to a "bargin wireless" company, then I'd definitely choose TMobile over MetroPcs. I'd even choose them over Sprint.

That's a little harsh, don't you think?

T-Mobile beats the pants off of AT&T in Colorado.

When when when!!! Of course I just bought a pearl. I have about 23 day to return it. I bet I am out of luck.

No, not built-in, you will need a bluetooth gps receiver.

Coverage is relative to where one lives, works, plays, and/or travels.

That is sort of true. Yes, it is relative to that. One company will work better in one particular area than another and vice versa, however, as a whole, TMobile obviously has the least amount of coverage. I mean, who are we kidding. If they were anywhere close to Verizon and Cingular as far their network, why would they be so small and have to give away the cheapest plans? They may work better in a particular city than Verizon or Cingular, but overall, on a national scale, they are not in the same league. And anyone who says differently just needs to put down their drink.
I know one thing, if a company has cheaper prices(tmobile), the best customer service(tmobile), and at least equal network quality(definitely not tmobile), they'd be pulling in the most customers every quarter and have the lowest churn every quarter. Obviously, only Verizon does that.

I just got the joke as I hit reply...

But then again, how man non-business people had blackberries before the pearl came out? Now I see teens with them... I bet there will be an increase of Blackberry Thumb cases this year...

$29.99 is too mush.

I hate BBs... Our company had us push out BBs to all the outside sales force last year... most got the 7290 and have slowly been upgrading when new phones come out... alot had the 8700 and have now started upgrading to the pearl or the 8800... mostly women have been getting the pearl and the dang things keep breaking (mainly the trackball)... users who actually use the phone for what it was designed for have upgraded to the 8800... but now with the curve out I have a bad feeling I'll be seeing more and more switching to them... luckily when problems arise with them I have our Notes admin set a pass on the BES server and wipe device and do an enterprise activation again... lol.. what really sucks is they won't even buy me one and I'm expected to support them... ok.. it's late and I need to stop ranting...

Posted by: GregGebhardt

You say you hate BB yet you seem upset they do not get you one. As far as the trackball, it is not a big deal. Not that many, here, report the trackball stop working and not being able to get it going again. If there were a huge problem with the trackballs you would here more in these forums. RIM is betting they will do well as ALL of their new units have them.

Posted by: AsahiToro

I've never used a BB. How's the web browsing? What browser(s) can I use? Also, will there be a 3G or other high speed BB available? I've been eyeballing a N75 or BJ but am also considering a BB 8800.

Thanks for any input.

I'm upset because they expect me to support them and I barely touch them... and when I'm talking about 500+ BBs and some having issues with the trackball I think my control group is a little bigger than yours....
