Ringtones on Updated 8525 ROM

Is anyone else having trouble getting ringtones to work after the update? When I set downloaded ringtones (from Cingular) to be the ringtone, the phone does not ring. I test it using the play button in the sound and all the phone does is vibrate (I have it on vibrate and ring). I have done this with multiple ringtones so I assume it is a format issue or something. The ringtones say they are downloading as .mp3d format. Thanks for any help.

Have you tried using AS to put your own Ringtone on and seeing if those will play??

Not yet, I usually use Cingular's because I work for them and the ringtones are free.

I've never had a problem with the ringtones, at all. I'm currently using a cingular media-net tone, and It's working fine.

Some things to consider:

1) When the phone is on vibrate, turn up the volume slider. The phone does not use a viberator motor, rather vibrates using the bass of the speakers.
2) Ringtones only work when placed in the /Windows/Multimedia or /My Documents folder. I think there are registry hacks available to correct this, but do so at your own risk.

Well, I'm starting to think I just need to redo this ROM. I can't get ringtones to work, the PTT is jacked...and I have to reset at least 4 times per day. I'm thinking I just got a bad install. Sucks because now I have to re download all my stuff.

FYI, this is wrong information for the 8525. There IS a motorized offset weight that spins for vibrate. And, mp3d tones do NOT play not matter where you put them - and there IS NO "Multimedia" folder anyway.

My custom ringtones play only sporadically. Many times just the default plays.

This is why I use the WM6 ROM for the 8525......forget Cingular's ROM's

I would be all for that, but I only want to tweak my phone so much since I work for Cingular. I have customers looking at my phone alot and I want it to at least resemble what they will be using.

Is anyone else having this problem? I redownloaded the ROM and it is still doing the same thing.

I have had the same problem with ringtones I buy from Cingular. I can't figure it out either.

According to someone in the "official" Cingular HTC Forum, both Cingular and HTC know about this and working on a fix.
