750 Treo and gmail issue.

I put my gmail account on my 750 treo but it sends me every email I have already seen in my treo. Is there anyway that I can set it where it only sends me the unread emails and not all of them. Cause once I delete them from my treo it deletes them from my gmail account also which I don't want.

What I did since G-Mail will actually let you forward your email, I set up and account at mail2web.com and then forward it there and since mail2web is an exchange account I get direct push, and it works great!! There are some other options out there that people say work better, but mail2web is free......

But then if i reply to emails won't it show it came from whatever@mail2web.com instead of my gmail account?

Also which service do I sign up for they have a bunch.

What I did there was make sure that my gmail and mail2web account have the same user name, and also to have a signature to respond to. They have a free exchange account, which is the one I use. There is a service called 4Smartphone or something to that effect that will give you the reply to address you want, but it costs money. I honestly am fine with mail2web, very little down time, email is almost instant, and the reply to thing doesn't bother me cause most people see my name anyway

I also turned off the pop3 on my gmail so I don't keep deleting my emails and now I'm getting a error s7154. it shows "outlook" and gmail as accounts on my phone how do I delete them? I tried but it doesn't show up on the list.

After i read emails on my treo 750 I delete them and after you delete them to update the server and let them know you've seen and/or erased them you have to send/receive them again.

I have had gmail working on my treo for 2 months +, I don't understand why some people have so much trouble with it. You are not alone though.

So far using Seven Mail Beta, I've seen no problem with GMail

Download, install, and it'll take care of the GMail syncing. I think notification is currently borken but should be fixed on the WM version very soon.

One work around to keep gmail from deleting email when you delete on the handheld - change the handheld email account username to recent:myusername@gmail.com

I believe that if you want to save emails on your handheld past 30 days using this method, you will need to move them to a folder.

So far the only problem i've had with my email is when using cingular xpress. it always messes with my mms messages so I never can send or receive them. that program is a load of crap.

I gave up trying to get Gmail to work on my Treo 750. I know I had all the settings correct. It just wouldn't download anything. I never got any error messages. it saw that I had 861 messages in my inbox and it took 10 minutes to download all the headers, then it just wouldn't download any emails even though I had 2-3 new emails. If anyone is willing to take a few minutes and help me try again, please feel free to shoot me an IM with AIM. thanks.

I'm in the same boat as you. Pushing my mail from Gmail to my Treo through outlook has not been a problem. However, after I open the email on my phone, close the email, and then going back to it, sometimes the email is gone. I have been reading in various forums that this is a problem with outlook itself, not gmail.

Yeah, no kidding. The problem is that XPress mail uses silent text messages to trigger the push mail. Palm's custom messaging app seems to fight with Xpress Mail.

The new Seven mail beta (see my post above) doesn't have this problem
