OK, I'm 64 & not all that "hip" on modern computer toys. I just bought the LG-CU500v phone (Cingular/AT&T) and a 2 gig card along with the cable to hook up to the usb port in the computer so that I can download ringtones & music as well as pictures back to the computer without paying the high cost of the mobile service. /// see, I'm not only old and non computer savy - l'm also cheap./// Anyway, I can't get the computer to reconize that I have a phone attatched ... you know, "My Computer" where it shows the hard drive, the CD drive & etc. I was told that this phone would show up as a mobile device and then I would just drag/drop the downloaded music or ringtones. Not so easy it turns out. If anybody has an idea how to help me --- I sure would appreciate the help.

I'm not exactly sure how to fix your problem, but thought I'd let you know I'm in basically the same boat. My Mac sees the phone as an "LG USB Modem", so perhaps that's the same problem you're having. If the computer sees the phone as a modem, it may not be able to use it as a mass storage device.
Hopefully someone will come along and tell us what we're doing wrong.

have you guys checked to make sure ur data connection is set for "mass storage device" and not "data service". i just got mine two days ago, pait 106 after taxes. resigned my 2yr, my old 2yr contract went up back in late november. newho, goto your menu, then (9)Settings, then (7)Connection, then (2)USB Connection Mode. there you will see the option mentioned above. now i windows vista ultimate, so i cant even wait til my cable gets here so i can try to see if it works. hopefully, its new. but as u mention the "drag-n-drop" feature, should show up with drivers installed for the phone & cable, in the my computer as a device with removable storage, like cd drives, & thumb drives. the thumb drive is pretty much exactly how this is operating, with ur microsd card. ive only got a 512mb, it came with my old moto v635, got i loved that thing, but it doesnt pick up in my new house very well for sum reason. hope this will help the macs problem too, as its shouldnt be pickedup as a modem as the data service should depict. so to sum it up, change phone to mass storage, connect to compter. let me know if u have ne more problems.
