Fido CSRs useless on this. Anybody know how to hookup my Clié tg50 (Palm OS 5.0) to my unlocked Pebl U6 as a modem, through the Bluetooth connection (I can have them talk to each other)? I know this is not an EDGE phone, but I should be satisfied with GPRS as I intend to need only a few Mo of transfers. I will be in Europe for a month, and I will be using Bouygues télécom GSM service. My intention is simply to sign in to my bank account for a few $$$ transfers. And what would be my choice for browsers on my Clié?
Or, would it be preferrable only to use the browser on the phone? In which case, what is the configuration of the Pebl? Every time I clic on the icon, it either freezes up or tells me the connexion cannot be made, and I should try later.

lets start from the end and work back. presumably, you're going to go online to browse to your banking site (if i'm wrong and you have a dial up connection from where ever your're going to be, it's different). you can pair the palm to the pebl via bluetooth via palm "preference - communication" - both as a phone and a wap and/or wap/gprs connection depending upon your carrier. the question is - if you have to browse(internet) then what's the point of going from pda to phone - the phone is the internet link. will the phone have browser capability where your're going? can you now (at home) make the connect - i've had difficulty doing this (doesn't mean it can't be done)with secured sites.

Thanks. I see that you have the Pebl as well. I can't access the net using the browser on my Pebl, as I said in the post. I see you can't either. What is the problem, then? CSRs do't know mch about this, it seems...
Now, I know the GSM carrier in France, that I am going to use (Bouygues) , is also providing data (Edge and GPRS). I would prefer going with the Palm as the little screen seems awfully small. How do you find it? It would be the easy solution, but if you have problems connecting to secure sites....
Finally, is there anything I should do to the phone (e.g. firmware from Motorola) to activate config. parameters or something? CSRs at Fido are not very usefull here.

i hope i didn't mislead you. i have almost no problems browsing directly from the pebl and also from my pda using the pebl as a wap/gprs modem. what i haven't been able to do is successfully log onto my bank site via either method or even just pda via wifi.. i get thru logon, challenge and when i enter the password nothing else happens. i'm awaiting word from the bank's tech dept to see what's going on.
if you bought the phone unlocked it probably has not been configured for your carrier - you need to enter the browser and mms web sessions. check the fido thread - the settings may be there.
