Anyone that's taken apart an SK3...

Is the trackball integrated into the main board or is it a replaceable sub-board?

My trackball scrolls fine but will not register a press as "enter," just does nothing at all.

Thanks in advance.

in your settings is the "allow trackball clicks" checked?

Yes, it isn't that...the previous owner was a little, er, "rough" with it...once in a great while if I jam the trackball in there pretty good it will register, but this only happens very rarely and I know it isn't how it is supposed to be (because I played with one that works).

The trackball is connected permanently to the main board.

Well I have taken mine apart before. It can be removed. The trackball is in its own housing/enclosure, and underneath this is the "sensor" that is attatched to the main baord. It is a pain to put back together tho. And you will have to take the whole sidekick apart to get to this. If you need instructions feel free to PM me.

I should warn you that doing this will void your warranty with T-mobile. Also make sure you have a t6 and small philips head screwdriver.

You might be better off trying to get a warranty replacement. Just my 2 cents

Is this possible, considering I bought the SK3 from a private party and not T-Mobile?

Sure just call CC and ask to speak with the warranty dept. The device is uner warranty for one year. I don't think it matters how many owners. I thinks that's more of an insurance thing.

Oh when you call CC say "Sidekick Support" hopefully the automated system will understand and get you transfered .

If that doesn't work maybe I can try to fix it. PM me for info, I am in SoCal too btw.

Not true, the warranty is voided unless the original owner purcahsed it from a T-Mobile store or a authorized T-Mobile dealer. He's out of luck if he wants a warranty exchange, but you could send it in and pay the $100 fee for out of warranty exchange.

Just realized this thread is a couple months old, oh well.
