I am looking into getting a xv6700 from Verizon with the unlimited data package. My question is this, can I ...
get on the web to look at local telephone books?
google things?
Interact with sites, like forums or such?
attach this to a notebook and use it to get on the net for game play (world or warcraft?)
use google maps?
Use MS word or the mini version then later export it to my main computer (for work purposes.
watch youtube?
I am kinda jumping from using my phone for just calls.
Any hep you could offer, would be greatly appreciated. Consider me a 3 year old when it comes to cell phones.
By the way, can I do any of the above things without major changes to my phone?

The 6700 is getting a bit long in the tooth having been around for quite a while in cell-phone years. However, just about all you wish is possible and with the advent of non-vendor/non-carrier supported ROM upgrades (essentially private hacked ROMS) which are now floating around on various web sites, the handset has been given new life. You have two choices: 1. Get the 6700 and learn all about it from sites such as pdaphonehome.com and ppcgeeks.com, modify it and enjoy. or 2. Wait a month or so for the newer 6800 reportedly available from carriers this summer. Unsure what improvements the 6800 will bring, but it will be available very soon.

Thank you for your reply, I am in a bit of a pickle, you see my Nextel cell phone is giving me more and more reception problems. I do not wish to get another nextel phone. I need a cell phone for my work, and while talking to a Verizon rep was offered the 6700 and a slider phone (chocolate?) for my wife for 200 bucks after repates. We will be on the family plan with the 45 dollar unlimited data package (for me basically).
I was told that the 6700 could do all that I have mentioned, but was unsure about its use as a modem for my laptop. When i connect to the net, will it connect via the "data package" connection? meaning I can be online with my lap top "thru" my cell phone, unlimited?
I have never dabbled with pda's extensivly, and must admit I am out of the loop when it comes to them.
Thanks again.

Yes, you can "tether" to the internet thru your 6700. Be aware that all carriers have limits on data usage over their networks as vaguely (very vaguely) defined in their Terms of Service. Don't expect to be dropping Gigs of bit-streams without alerting the VZW bandwidth police. However, for most of use these limits are very reasonable and liveable.
If you utilize Outlook, the MS Active Sync that comes with the handset will allow you to "sync" your contacts, calendar, email, files and notes to the handset; either thru USB connectivity or over the air in the case of a business Exchange server.
Try the 6700 PDA, you will likely like it very much. Remember the two sites in my first reply as they can answer just about any question that might arise. Do not count on VZW for much help.
Good Luck,
