Keep my SYNC or upgrade to v3xx

I currently have the Samsung SYNC and while it's a good phone, there's some stuff that annoys me about it.

Is it worth it to spend 50bucks to upgrade to the v3xx?

upgrade now.

Agreed to what walkguru said. Upgrade. you won't regret it. I had the sync but never really liked it. The Razr v3xx is such a better phone. Trade it in and you'll never look back.

My only concern is the original V3 I had i had to XBM twice and then the external speaker broke out of warranty period, so I'm a little concerned about that. But I guess since i have access to the Premier site, if it breaks i can always just upgrade.

I had 5 Moto's and had problems with all. I had Samsungs and loved them all. Keep the sync.

Does the V3xx have any external controls for the music player like the sync does? I know it doesn't have dedicated buttons like the sync but can you control it with the phone closed using side keys?

who cares about external mp3 controls when i have never, and will never use a phone that has less then 2GB internal memory as an mp3 player. That's why I have a PocketPC, a laptop, and an iPod.

The SYNC and my Nokia 3360 are the only phones i've ever had that aren't Motorola and EVERY PHONE I have had had/has their share of problems... some worse then others.

Personally, I'm not impressed with the SYNC. It lacks Voice Dialing, the interface is somewhat laggy. However, the 2MP camera is amazing, but I don't use it enough to matter.

I think i'm going to get the v3xx. If i don't like it I can always go back. I'm getting it through premier so I'm only paying $50.

Depends. If you've had trouble with Moto phones in the past, you probably would regret downgrading to a V3xx. Conversely, if you've had good luck with them, go for it.

It's interesting how different people can have completely different impressions of the same phone. I had three different Motos before getting a Sync, and the Sync is the first phone I've actually liked as opposed to tolerating. Given my experience, I wouldn't get a V3xx unless I absolutely had to, and then I'd probably dump it first chance I got.

V3xx is simply the best phone in Cingular lineup. It's nothing like your old Razrs. Even if you had troubles with Motorola phones in the past, just try the V3xx and I am quite positive you would love the V3xx. It's super fast and reception king. You will get reception in places where you never got reception before. I go to a gym. I never got reception there with any phones. But, with V3xx, I get very good reception in that place. Nobody else with any other providers get signal there. My friend has a Samsung slim phone with T-Mobile and now he is thinking about switchcing to V3xx and Cingular.

I really don't see what's so great about the Motorola. It is larger than the regular RAZR, it doesn't have external media controls, stereo speakers, still has a 1.3mp camera. Big deal, it has a QVGA and a speedy user interface, so does every other non-motorola phone made in the last 2 years. As if that's some sort of breakthrough.

no stereo speakers??

Screw it then. I love how nice and clean my ringtones sound with the Stereo speakers on the SYNC.

Yes, you can control the music player for the extrenal buttons on the v3xx. Volume keys to change track, smart key for pause and play.

I had a sync and just got a krzr. I would have gone with the V3xx but it is only triband and if you are going to travel, it may be a problem.

I was never crazy about the sync either. Plus it did some really weird stuff (like getting hot for no reason and then having a dead battery) once in a while that I could never duplicate. The camera on the sync isn't that great, its still a camera phone. The krzr isn't that great either but I don't care. Music players on both are quirky, no real winner.

But call quality and volume is much better on the krzr and I assume will be on the V3xx. I would go ahead and do the V3xx!

I added a line to get the sync yesterday (I needed a separate phone for work because I couldn't get the blackjack on insurance while I could get the sync on insurance--and i'm tired of prepaid phones when they're $10 a fill and if you use it, it's gone in less than 10 days) and I like it! So far, no problems with the battery getting hot on it. It has almost as good of a quality camera as my blackjack does, but what I like is that it's the size of a razr, but not the razr. Anyways, for less than $20 a month and sharing my pool of minutes, I got another line.

Also, I liked that I matched Wallyworld's $28.88 price in the corporate store.

SO ANYWAYS, a lesson to all those people who want to get a good price on a phone--Go to Wallyworld first, get the price, then go to a corporate store AND MATCH IT!!!!

Does anyone here have info on the KRZR K1 compared to the V3xx? Music is a non-issue for me, thus the lack of external controls makes no difference to me. I am switching from Verizon, looking for best new phone...

If you need high speed internet on your phone (only available in umts areas) and large screen get the V3xx or if you want smallest form razr and a 2 mp camera then get the Krzr.

Posted by: Ima

No need for internet, and Amazon has the KRZR K1 free with 2 year contract. (I was hoping for a new Nokia, but it looks as if that may be a while yet...) Worth waiting a little longer for new models, or is that a thread hijack? (sorry...)

Krazr is very buggy. Does not work with MPT, bluetooth does not work properly and a couple other things. I just traded the Krazr for a V3xx for this reason(s). In many ways I like the Krzr better but the bugs and frustratingly slow menu response got the best of me.

Posted by: egale1

Sorry the KRZR works with MPT just fine. If yours didn't, either you had a defective phone or never downloaded the current version. Have had no Bluetooth problems either.

I can't tell if you're jealous, being really sarcastic, or you're being serious...

But count how many replies are related to the stupid KRAZR...

Posted by: underthehood51

I had 2 Krazrs neither worked with MPT. COuld not sync contacts with it. I wish it did and hours upon hours with M tech people could not help either. The BT issue is a known issue as M techs told me. Could not activate voice dial with phone closed. They blamed AT&T and AT&T blamed M. Frankly I got so frustrated I gave up and got the xx. My kid kept the KRazr cause she thinks it's way cool.
