Im basically like all of you guys, I buy em, sell em, trade em, get sick of em, get new ones!

I got a treo 750, and its too buggy. I like my blackjack though. But, how is the 8800??

The main question is, can I use the BB 8800 with a regular media net plan. I just want to check pop3 accounts, and use the internet (website)... thats it. Thanks

Not at all.

You need a BB data plan to get email and Internet on a BB. Email is tied to RIM servers via the BB PIN, so RIM knows where to send it. Some people have had success using miniOpera without a data plan but my guess is they get charged for data usage anyway.

I'd place my chips on your not liking it. Unless stability and email are your top priorities and other features and apps can take a back seat to that... It's just a guess though.

Certainly not for checking POP mail -- you need access to BIS for that and that requires access to the BB APN which requires a BB data plan. You might be able to weasel your way by on Media Net if you just wanted to browse web sites.

really all i want to use my phone for is: phone, text, email, web browsing, maybe rss (BBs have avantgo now), sudoku (game), alarms, organizer (tasks, and plan my day). That is it, no like streaming internet radio on my phone, being able to ftp to some server or some random crap. I just want an organizer and a phone. I liked my e61 and e62, but it was too big and slow, it did get unstable after a while. The screen on that was awesome, screen on the BJ is too small... 8300 is in the middle... i think im going to buy 8300, 8800 seems too businessy.

I am 100% with ya, KlamshellKing. You and I pretty much want the same thing out of a smartphone/PDA. The only thing different is that I don't have time to play games...LOL.

I don't like the 8800's "disco-business" look...plus the keypad is too smushed together and hard to work with. And...it is at least one of the worlds greatest fingerprint magnets.

If I go to the "dark side" it'll be with the 8300 later this month. Besides, I have an upgrade that I am itching to use...and nothing else AT&T offers is worth a crap.

also, itll be nice to have a few tunes on my phone. Im sure since its BB the music player will work smoothly. All i need is like 60 songs. I have 2000 but i never listen to all of them. Ill just leave them on my comp. Ill buy another card (1gb) so i can be satisified for a while, and so i can sell my ipod (one less gadget to carry around)
