For you folks that have the former AT&T Wireless blue SIM cards and trying to configure your unlocked Cingular 8525 / HTC Hermes (TYTN) to work with mMode's GPRS (2G) / EDGE (2.5G) / UMTS (3G) services, here's your good news.

I spent the past few days trying to figure this out on my own since Cingular Wireless no longer supports any troubleshooting service of the former AT&T Wireless through calling or on their web site. I believe that they purposely deleted it so you would have to spend more money to upgrade your plan to the Cingular plan. I just want to share the following information with you since this type of service is unavailable everywhere else even with Cingular's customer service.

This was done on my Cingular 8525 / HTC Hermes (TYTN) with Windows Mobile 5. You just need to do the following configurations on your device step-by-step. Here's how it works:

==========

IPS Settings:

Start > Settings > Connections (Tab) > Connections > Advanced (Tab) > Select Networks

Under where it says "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:", select "New".
General Tab:
Enter a name for these settings: mMode
Modem Tab:
Add “New”.
Enter a name for the connection: mMode
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
Access point name: proxy
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Domain:* <blank>
Click on “Advanced”.
TCP/IP Tab:
Use server-assigned IP address: Option selected
Use software compression: Unchecked
Use IP header compression : Unchecked
Servers Tab:
Use server-assigned address: Option selected
Click “OK” and then click “Finish”.
Proxy Settings Tab:
Check “This network connects to the Internet”.
Check “This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet”.
Proxy server: 010.250.250.054
Click on “Advanced”.
HTTP: 010.250.250.054 Port: 8080
WAP: 010.250.250.054 Port: 8080
Secure WAP Proxy: <blank> Port: 9203
Socks Proxy: 127.0.0.1 Port: 1080 Type: Socks 4
Click "OK" to finish.
Click "OK" to save and exit.

MMS Settings:

Messages > Menu > Tools > Options > Accounts (Tab) > MMS > Servers (Tab)

Add “New”.
Server name: mMode MMS
Gateway: 10.250.250.100
Port number: 9201
Server address: http://mmsc.mymmode.com
Connect via: The Internet
Sending size limitation: 300K (if available for selection)
Click “OK”.
Highlight the “mMode MMS” you just created and click “Set As Default”. Then click “OK” to finish.

APN Setting: (Optional and available only on the Cingular 8525 before the New AT&T 8525 ROM update version 2.15.502.3)

Start > Programs > Wireless Modem > Menu > APN Setting

Preset GPRS connections: Checked
Access Point Name (APN): proxy
Click “OK” and make sure the “Connection Type = USB”, then click “Done” to finish.
