I need help!!!!!!! i really cannot afford to lose all of the memories, pictures and stuff on my mem card. i got my new v3xx last night, i power off my sync. switch sim card over and mem card over too. the moto didn't recognize it. odd? maybe. so, then i wonder if it was the card itself acting all funny now. i stuck in back in the sync and even tried w/ the d807. now, the mem card's heating up for some strange reason and the infamous UNRECOGNIZABLE FORMAT, reformat? Yes or No. Even If I clicked on yes, it said error.

Does anyone know what happened? It was working fine in the sync the whole time. Does anyone know if my data can be retrieved? If so, what software do I need? What attachments/devices? I'm at this point desperate.

Have you tried reading the memory card in a card reader attached to your computer? The micro SD card should have come with a converter to allow it to be read in a regular SD slot.

I had the same problem going from a SLVR to a Sync and never got the info on my card back. I tried several things and none worked for me.

i thought each time you switched to a different series/brand phone that you needed to format the card (to allow for the proper file structure to be updated). Put the card back in the sync, see if it works. if so put it in a memory card reader on the pc and then copy the pictures to the pc. When that is done, put the card in the v3xx and format it. Then start using it. Different phones have different file structures so when you plop the card from one phone (like the sync) to the v3xx, it doesn't read it.

Those cards are sensitive to scratching, I've ruined quite a few but sandisk had always replaced them at no charge. Recovering the data might be difficult, as the previous poster suggested - try it in your pc and again on your sync.

i'm waiting for my friends memory card reader for the computer and hopefully that'll let me retain some stuff... i had a feeling that was what i should've done all along lol...

While you're waiting for the card reader, could you Bluetooth some of the files from one phone to the other?

same thing happened to me, except i switched between 2 V3xx's. it did the same things as you've described. the card couldn't be read. and after leaving it in hoping that my phone would eventually read it, the miniSD would just end up burning hot.

i tried plugging it into my laptop with the adapter, but same thing happened. my laptop didn't read it AND the whole card got hot. i tried every which way to get the damn thing to work. i was even willing to format it all over again and lose the info stored. but it was just plain unreadable. i just ended up returning it since i was still under my 30 days, and just got a new one.

hopefully you have the contents saved on a disk or on your pc. then you can just transfer it back to a new miniSD. if not, then i guess you're screwed.
