Vendor discounts??

Now, just coming over from the computer side of the world, I'm wondering, WHY is it that we dont get any personal discounts from the vendors? You'd think they would be ALL up our collective a$$es to get us to sell they're products. As near as I've been able to determine, they really dont. I know they sometimes go into the stores and offer you folks in the stores specials (Sell XX number and you get a free phone) but WHY dont they make special pricing available for the employees of the company? Samsung would win my loyalty for life if they offered me a decent price on a Blackjack!

SO, my question is, DO any of the vendors offer us DECENT discounts? (Instead of this crappy little 30% which is more of a slap in the face really. Although, HAVE heard some of the Corp Owned stores ARE giving us the 60% without a contract if we just give our ATT ID info) That's a LOT of work to find the right stores.

No. Sometimes there are contests for phones, but they have not done that in a while, probably since most of them end up on ebay. Your best bet is to get in good with your manager and see if they will demo a phone for you to use.

On a conference call in my area they said that all the IRU discounts are only for 2 year contracts. It does seem pointless that the stores would actually give out phones discounted just because of the sponsorship.

According to the reps in our area, that is indeed the problem. The manufacturers know that most of the phones they throw our way end up on eBay. So the only way to get a phone "free" from them is to win one in a contest...although lately, the contests have been few and far between. Plus, by the time a contest ends and you actually receive the phone, it is usually outdated, so you end up not using it anyway. The last 3 phones I won were a Blackberry 7130, Samsung ZX-20 and a Nokia E-62. All three are end of life here and by the time I got them, I didn't want them-
