Does this seem true to you?

Thank you for your inquiry

I did some further research for you, if you are trying to transfer files from your Cingular 8525 to your computer it is not going to work. The only way you can perform this function is by connecting to Active sync via Bluetooth and transfer files through explore from Active sync. The compatibility issue will not let you transfer files from device to PC but you can do vise versa.

I hope we have answered your question in detail. Feel free to contact us again if you have any further questions.

You should be able to as long as you've paired your pc and your 8525. That is if obex is enabled on your 8525 and you have a program installed that has it as an option.

I used the HTC Tweak thingie to enable OBEX on my 8525 and I have paired and unpaired and repaired countless times and I have taken off all security and passwords on the computer but I still can't receive any files on the computer. Whenever I try to beam anything, my 8525 does the search for devices but when I tap to send, it immediately shows "Failed" on the 8525.

Any ideas why?

Thanks.

I'm sorry I don't have any ideas.

Hmm... I beamed (from Infrared) to my laptop with no problem. It was a little slow but... Oh sorry, "beam" is old-school for infra.

While the two devices (laptop, 8525) are paired, make sure bluetooth is on, and turn on the "Receive all incoming beams" option in the menu under settings > Connections > Beam. This HAS to be turned on to transfer files by bluetooth WITHOUT activesync at all. You MUST use file explorer because Total Commander will not use bluetooth at all.

Let us hear back if you get this to work. I know this information to be true since that's how I have to do it with my MDA.

I beam photos to and from my Mac Mini via BT with an app called AirShare

I think I am giving up on this. I have until Tuesday to return it. HTC Support says that I can't even use Infrared to send/rec'v files without ActiveSync. That's ridiculous.
