Need a super durable QB GSM Phone

My friend needs a super durable quad band gsm phone (he travels alot). He just broke his 2nd razr in 3 months.
What would be a good phone for him? He liked the Z8 but it's not available yet and I don't think it would be best for him.

Carrier? How will he use the device? What are his needs? Where does he travel? Stuff like that.

Sorry --
He's using Consumer Cellular (reseller of cingular airtime).
He'll be using it mostly as just a phone and a camera. CC doesn't support data services.
He travels world wide.
