8525 and dash wont accept bluetooth files?

Im new to the wm os and I was wondering why my 8525 and Dash will not accept files transferred from bluetooth, it doesnt give me a warning or prompt, the other device just says transferred failed. How do i enable file transfers?

This is the exact opposite of my problem - I can receive but not send. HTC Support tells me that I can only send files from my 8525 to my computer through ActiveSync. So maybe you should try that yourself?

Why would they not allow bluetooth sending or receiving? My POS razr,v551 can send and receive files. Maybe we are just doing something wrong...

Believe me, I questioned it too and posted several threads about it (such as this one: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1164513) because every BT phone I've ever had lets me send files to just about any computer. But I was told it is a "compatibility issue". I don't know, but since I've tried everything that everyone on HoFo (and other boards) have suggested, I am actually believing HTC Support at this point.

In struff's thread mentioned above, I explained how to make transferring files over bluetooth work. The only thing I didn't mention in there was that you have to have the registry edit HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Obex\IsEnabled = 1 (DWORD decimal) to enable you to send files from your 8525.

The most likely problem is you don't have "Beam" setting to on. You can't receive if that's unchecked.

like JWY said you have to have the beam ON and just press the stylus on the file select beam and when i searches select the device that is bluetooth i know on a razr, slvr, LG 500 its alot easier and the option to send is easier to find on those phones

I am pretty sure that the 8525 does not support file reception over BT. I am not sure how it is ofter the recent AT&T ROM update.

To transfer files over BT get the app called AirShare.

Works for me.

Ok so thats how you send files correct? What about receiving them?

Same: AirShare

Thank you. I was going to throw away the 8525 because it did not receive bluetooth. After doing what you said, it works great now.

Thanks
