Unlimited talk/text?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've seen this commercial several times now on the tele. Has anyone else? Basically, it says you can get unlimited talk and text for an extra $5.00.

The text, I understand. Its for the unlimited m2m messaging. But the talk part?

Posted by: holaDude

Basically just like unlimited m2m calls, customers can add on the unlimited m2m text messaging for 5.00 in addition to a qualified message plan. I hate the commercials and I still send a list of calls to IMC and my manager at the end of every day. I wish they would phrase the commercials better.

You can talk non-verbally all with text messaging, pretty cool huh??

Posted by: NukuCamui

Marketing is just wanting Cingular to get into heaps of trouble over our "funny advertising."

Posted by: GSM4ruralareas

Well it does make sense.

You already have unlimited talk - m2m included in all plans.

But then you are adding unlimited messaging - m2m for $5.00

Thus giving you both unlimited talk AND unlimited texting for $5.00 - plus the price of your rate plan. But the $5.00 add on allows you to have BOTH.

Amazing...

No, it doesn't make sense to people who don't know and understand the cell phone industry. They see "unlimited talking and text messages, $5.00" thats it.

Furthermore...why are you in the agents forum?

Posted by: GSM4ruralareas

Well... there aren't any rules saying I can not be in the agents forum. Therefore, I can come and go as I please. I was adding something relavent to a good topic - and not spamming. So you should not fret.

Regards, GSM4ruralareas

Everyone is allowed to post in this forum, regardless if their employees or not as long as the posts are respectable to one another. The only type of thread that is not allowed is customers asking direct questions of employees as these threads are more appropriate in the main forum. If we were to lock this forum from other members who are not employees, then in all fairness we would then have to have a "customer only" forum where employees were locked out of.

You are one of the more respectful employee/agent that posts in the main forum. However, at times, some employees and agents have been rather condescending and obnoxious to customers that come to vent in the main forum much the same as an employee/agent vents in this forum. Fortunately, we have mods to help when it gets out of line.

But, you can't have it both ways....If customers aren't allowed to post/read this forum under the stated rules, then customers will need their own private forum as well. I don't think we, or the mods want that. Both sides need to remain respectful of each others view points...and, at times, we may have to just agree to disagree.

No, I understand that the person has a right to come in here, however, this user is VERY annoying to me. Ever since they started a whine session on a different forum and dragged it over here, then comes up with some of the DUMBEST things to say and start posts about (can we say "bash session against agent debit"?)

The question was posed to other employees, not customers who "think" they know about how the system works. Customers cannot have it both ways either TX Twin. I have always thought this forum should be hidden, but thats just me. While I appreciate you trying to mediate things, I'd like to just come out and say that I cannot STAND GSM4ruralareas with a passion because I do not tolerate the level of stupidity he brings to some discussions.

Anyway, I'd really like to get back onto topic, kthxbai.

I fully agree with you on your comment about the commercial. 100%. As HolaDude states -- they could phrase their commercials better.

And, yes, I understand your irritation with some of the members -- but, just as some of the customers come off as immature and irritating at times, so do some of the employees/agents. If you want this forum hidden, the customers should also have a hidden forum, that those subscribing to this forum should not be allowed in and vice versa. [Something I think would be a negative in the long run.] Reading in here has helped me understand some of the responses in the main forum.

As far as the bash session against AD -- he brought that on himself, and apparently elsewhere as well.

I've said my peace. And will return to the "Open" forum like a good little customer HOFOr.

Yes, I know that employees come off as immature, more times than they needs to, and there are certain ones who are immature all of the time. However, there is no need for this post to continue in this fashion. I've said my piece (it is piece btw) and have asked that this topic go back onto the correct path. I never see this type of drag out on other posts, so why bring it up and drag this out now? There are other people in here who need this talking to more than me, please go preach to them. It seems I am getting the third degree because I usually never get obnoxious like others.

Oh, and while agent debit "may have brought it upon himself" to have a thread bashing him, that doesn't mean it's right. So, that's totally unfair to say.

Furthermore, I am thinking of asking a mod to close this unless it gets back onto topic. If it doesn't, I'll ask that it be closed so I can open up a different post so it can stay on topic. This is getting ridiculous and stupid now.

I feel advertisements like this will create more churn than help growth. People will walk into the store expecting something else and find out the fine print.

Oh I get that all the time. I've been called a liar when I tell them it is really for m2m texting and that true unlim is $20 a month. Its really deceptive, I am waiting for the lawsuites to come in about this "misleading advertisment"

Posted by: neile457

When I saw this come out, I couldn't get a straight answer. With Nextel, I have an unlimited talk plan for $99 a month. This isn't an unlimited talk plan, and is false advertising. It's that simple

I have recieved WAY too many calls about this topic (I'm in Business Care). There was actually an official email out from Marketing a few weeks ago saying that they were going to revamp the commercials because we had so many customers calling in with the wrong idea about the unlimited texting - but if you ask me, they haven't improved them at all. I wouldn't be surprised if I have people calling in asking about unlimited calling now - a lot of people just don't get the implication that it's 'mobile to mobile', they just see 'unlimited talk' or 'unlimited text'. The newest one I saw had something about the AT&T 'family tree', but if they think that's obvious, they didn't test it on enough people.
