I haven't looked to see if text messages work the same way or not but it might give a starting point where to look for HTC devices:

Change ringtone/vibrate/LED flash characteristics

If you would like more control over how your device rings/vibrates/flashes its LEDs on events, you can can change the Script values of these events. For example, for an incoming call performing 'activate device, play ringtone, wait 3 seconds, repeat':

HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "apw3r" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)

For performing 'active device, set volume to 33%, play ringtone, set volume to 67%, play ringtone, set volume to 100%, play ringtone (no repeat)':

HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "ac33pc67pc100p" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)

The following are the full codes available to you. Please note that all the codes are executed simultaneously except after a ringtone play / wait code. E.g. 'v1p' will vibrate and play at the same time, while vibrating for 1 second. But 'pv1' will play the ringtone through all the way first, then start vibrating for 1 second.

a = activate device
cN = set volume to N in percentage max volume
fN = flash notification LED for N seconds
p = play ringtone. Note that this will play the ringtone all the way through before continuing with the next code.
r = repeat. Note that this should be the last code in your Script string, if used at all.
vN = vibrate for N seconds
wN = wait for N seconds. Note that the device will wait this long before continuing with the next code.

the text message stuff is in the registry folder notifications...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications

From what i see, there's no way to tell it to just vibrate for 1 seconds...
Options are just what you have access...

For example, if you change the options for 6, you will have access to vibrate and flash ...
But still... we can't choose how long it will vibrate...

This is very annoying... A loud vibration that last 3 or 5 seconds... We don't need this, 1 seconds is enough

But another problem, we can't use "script" in notifications...

just found a solution.. download a very short sound.. like a click or something and put it into ur phone and set it as ur text sound.. now mine only vibrates for a second or 2

Posted by: fredboom

the phone needs to be put on the mode vibrate or at least the sound needs to be off for your solution to work right ?

I'M trying it right now... It's working... it's not perfect but at least, the other student in my university class doesn't look at me with anger anymore when i receive a text msg...

When go to that area of the registry I don't have any REG_SZ keys, just DWORD keys. The value for the LED notifications was already 1 and the timeout was 30 but i never get an LED notification for SMS. What keys do i have to change or create to get an LED notification when I receive a text message?

This was a setting I found just flipping through the menus earlier.

Settings -> Sounds & Notifications

Choose Notifications at the bottom

Select text in the Event.

Check off flash light and choose length of time.

I don't know what version of Windows Mobile you're using but on 6 there is no Sounds and Notifications option. Just Sounds. However, i found a great program to fix this problem. It's called Don't Forget.

http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/S...get-16454.shtml

This gives you all kinds of settings for reminders of all kinds of events. Very customizable. Enjoy.

O RLY

That's all the OP needs. No registry editor, no third party programs.

Is that Windows Mobile 6 for the T-Mobile Dash? Because I don't have it.
