v3xx: How reliably will it fall back on EDGE if 3G signal is weak?

I just got my V3xx (along with my new AT&T service) and have found that I'm getting at most 2 bars of 3G service at my house, often 1 or zero. I walked down to my basement and happened to notice that I was getting much better EDGE service. I'm very concerned about coverage, which was my main reason for leaving T-Mobile... how reliably does the phone fall back on the non-3G signal when it's weak or unavailable? Would a call drop switching from one technology to another?

I have found that it is very reliable on switching over to Edge if 3G is not available. I have a pretty good 3G signal at my house but many times I check the phone and it says Edge. I had the N75 for two weeks and I returned it because I was constantly getting the network busy signal and dropping calls and the phone stayed on 3G all the time. So I feel the V3xx is pretty reliable in this regard.
