P800 in Canada...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm located in Canada. What would be the easiest way for me to get one for the best price?

Should I wait till it is offically released by one of the local carriers?

Should I wait abit till the price comes down? I'm expecting it to me about $1000. I don't see it getting much cheaper within this year.

I am also looking for one in Canada...
but so far, very few places are offering them, and if they do, it seems to take forever for them to get stock.

I am wondering if anyone ordered a P800 from www.nokiasonyericsson.com They are based in Vancouver, and seems to have a good price ($649.99 USD)

Anyone got inputs about this site?

I tried contacting this company and they wouldn't disclose much info on the unit itself: i.e. firmware.... and they don't allow local pick up, which is kind of odd if they claim they have p800 in stock in Vancouver...

What service providers you guys using with your P800s in Canada?

If I have an unlocked P800 can I interchangably use Rogers and Fido?

Thanks!

Thanks!

if it's unlocked you should be able to use both Fido or Rogers with no problems

Thanks for the input....
that's strange how they won't allow pickup...
Guess we better be safe and buy from a more reputable source...

Just discovered this site:

http://www.zerogravity.net/web/index.asp

They list the P800 as coming soon, and a grand Canadian, which is roughly the same price as the $650USD deal through SE USA.

I'm not affiliated with ZeroGravity. I found them through their partnership with CBC.ca for mobile content.

650 is an excellent price and that's what i paied too for mine
phone is worth every penny!

Hey guys:
Why not just order from the Expansys US site? Expansys is a very reliable place to shop in my experience. They are prompt and have good customer service.
I bought mine from mphone in the UK and have been using it on fido now since early February. Works well,,, only been a few finnicky moments and a number of resets but all in all a good experience. I am running on firmware R1B and apparently we are at R1D. If you do order from expansys just send them an email prior to find out what the current version is that they are shipping.

don't forget the sellers on the forum..GSMPhonesource and JustTalk

Hey imoffat, just wondering how much taxes did they charge you for shipping it to Canada. I don't mind getting one from the States, or anywhere else in the world for that matter, as long as the source is reputable, but those taxes can run pretty high

because we are talking about technology goods there is no duty (at least I wasn't charged any getting mine from the UK). You will have to of course pay your 7% GST and any applicable provincial sales tax. But as you know there is no way around those particular taxes unless you were to zip across the border, pick up your phone and smuggle it back (god forbid!). For duty free goods such as computers etc. you will find the price you pay to buy it in the US or Canada is more or less equivalent if the distance shipped is the same.
What you can do is call Customs Canada and request a quote on excise and duties for a particular item. In the past I have done this for various items that I wasn't sure were duty free.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

What should I be looking for when I'm purchasing one? Like software version, hardware version? What else should I know about the phone before handing over the money?
