Hey Guys,

I just picked up a blackberry pearl and the maps portion seems to be either missing data or isnt loading the map. Any ideas why?

I didn't think the Pearl came loaded with BB Maps.

you should be able to download BB maps from www.blackberry.com/maps from your BB browser

It's a pretty poor app. I know that's not the best answer but in all seriousness I recommend trying something else for GPS and/or mapping.

Blackberry maps was Launched with the Pearl, and it was the first model to come preloaded with BBmaps as a part of the OS package

Do you have a BlackBerry data plan?

Keep in mind you need a data plan, and I'm not sure how your carrier works but with T-Mobile there's a max 48-hr provisioning period for it to become effective. Also, I'm not sure what your User Interface looks like, but on the T-Mobile BB's there's a setting you need to check: Options > Advanced Options > TCP, and under "APN" you need something that will be carrier-specific. For T-Mobile it's wap.voicestream.com. Depending on the carrier you may also need to enter a username and password there.

Hey Guys, I got the settings and put em all in. Looks like it works now. I guess nothing goes with BB without someone making money off the data plans huh? I dont like these little caveats...u can have GPS...but its gonna cost you *****loads.

Dumb.
