Can't pair bluetooth gps for more than a few seconds

So I'm having a problem pairing my bluetooth gps unit with my dash (gps is an i. Trek M6 and dash is unlocked running the latest radio and oem rom) I can get the gps unit to pair up for a few seconds but it wont keep the connection past the setup wizard. Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?
