So now my wife's blackjack doesn't work with a 2g card

Check this out, I grabbed a blackjack 5 months ago for the spouse and she is using the old legacy blue sim card. It works perfectly as she doesn't us data but sms and voice work fine. We take a trip to Washington and come back and the thing decides that it is not going to pick up reception. I try putting my 3g card in and the phone works fine. I unlock the phone and put in a Tmobile 2g and it makes calls fine. So I call tech and they have me swap out the sim with the generic 2g and it still doesn't work. They then tell me that it was never made to work with 2g and won't make a call. I tell them that it worked fine for the last months and a 2g tmob works. They don't have an answer. It's not the phone, it has to be the way that the card is now registering. I am seriously ready to put the smackdown on somebody at tech. Any thoughts, HELP!
