Nokia to buy Research in Motion?!?

I was browsing tech news earlier and something big caught my eye:

There were other rumors last week... Nokia would make a bid to buy Research in Motion...

I knew that the loss in the patent shenanigans would put a dent into RIm's pocketbook, but to sell out to Nokia? Say it isn't so!

I don't think RIM would sell out to Nokia. RIMM stocks have been either going up or staying steady. While the patent deal was big, it was several months ago and RIM stock went up after it was over. Furthermore, there are a ton of new blackberrys out right now. I don't RIM would be releasing blackberry after blackberry if they were planning on selling. So while Nokia may wish to buy them, I don't think RIM would sell to them.

ditto to that, RIM shares have a $4 rise since 5/24 and boy did that do wonders to my portfolio! they are in buying power not selling situations when viewing from a financial perspective

RIMM paid off the IP property settlement quite a while ago. Out of cash. Since then, the stock price has soared.

It would have to be one hell of an offer to buy out RIMM, please buying Canadian companies is different than US companies.

Nokia does not lack money.

I would hate to see it happen as my Canadian friends have produced a great service and excellent array of devices but in todays market, anything is possible!

I don't quite get it either. I just found another story where the owner of Research in Motion is going to buy out the Nashville Predators hockey team. RIM must be doing very well indeed.

I'm not averse to Nokia at all, I just happen to be more than slightly attached to my BB. I don't want to see it change!

if RIM is about to buy the Nashville Predators, i highly doubt they would sell to Nokia ...im not into the numbers as mentioned previously but to me thats how i see it ..i could be completely wrong , lol

RIM rules, is the company with the better phones.I hope RIM not sell to nobody.

if they do im sure it is for technology and informatin sharing, hopefully making better devices together or worse, who knows, as long as the devices coming out of this merger are better and more cost efficient
