(Nokia 5300) Wallpaper won't cover full screen

Hey all!
I luv my nokia 5300 phone specially since I unbranded it from Rogers. Anyways, I'm having trouble with wallpapers. When I put a wallpaper on, it won't show the top and bottom of it. I don't care much about the bottom part, but the top part is chopped off, or overlaid, by the idle status bar. So instead of getting the full picture, I've got this ugly bar at the top that covers up part of the wallpaper. Now is this because I haven't completely unlocked my phone? Or is it just the way it is?
Btw, I've tried resizing the wallpaper and such, but it still does the same thing. I've actually had to add a filler image to the top of the wallpaper (where the status bar is) just so I can see the whole thing.
If this doesn't quite make sense I can add pictures to show what I mean...

Thanks for your help!!

What you can do is use the Original NOKIA.NTH theme and the idle bars on the bottom and top are actually transparent so you can see your full image.

i have worked with a freelancing journalist and interviewed and took pictures of bands in the barracades and i use my own pictures for my wallpapers. what i did is used photo editing software to crop the image i wanted and fit it with the resolution of the lcd screen which would be 240 pixels width by 320 pixels height. which sounds like you did that with resizing i'm assuming. After editing the wallpaper, i put it in my memory card and look it up in the phone and i have no bars or anything and the icons go over the full picture.
