Alright I am a serious noob to SE, only had my W810i 3 days. while transfering pics from phone and disconnecting, i got the blinking white screen that would not go away...tried sony's updater thing w/no luck. OK so i thought to try flashing, at this point why the F not. But it was late and i got real tired of searching post after post for this file that file which s/w to use for which model. blah blah blah.

I settled on 1) W810_R4DB005_MAIN_GENERIC_HN_CID49.mbn and 2)W810_R4DB005_FS_AMERICA_2_RED49.fbn and started to flash using Phone XS2. After 5 hours it said it was done. Phone wakes up, WOW, but when I opened start phone it says only "contact service provider" crap. Now what.? FLashing got phone out of WSOD but not working. Maybe the updater would straighten it out...? Nope!

Let try flashing again after reading something about customizing or finalizing. again its late blah blah blah lol

So I added this folder called "tpa" to Phone XS and flashed again. after 4 hours the phone would start but menu and keys were missing, only saw a backround wallpaper.! ugh. Well i was quite disgusted so figured I would try the sony updater now that the phone would at least "come on". Well that did it!!!! YES!!! Eureka!!!!!! WOOT!!!!!!

Phone works! everything works! I have noticed menus are slightly different not bad, just not what i had b4 with stock Cingular. So now that initial Euphoria has settled down, I am have a few questions...

1)what did I do, and why did it work?
2)what software do I have now? and is it good s/w?
3)Is my phone unbranded or unlocked?

btw some differences I see are, I can use mp3's as ringtones now and the internet key doesn't jump dirrectly to the internet, but to a shortcut menu.
all in all everything unintentionally worked out. lol
