8800 more than the Curve?

Why does the 8800 cost more than the Curve? Doesn't the Curve have more features?

You mean 8800 on tmobile vs 8300 ATT. Who knows? But it makes you want to buy a 8300 instead. The 8800 on tmo is more than the 8800 on Cing

I actually mean the Cingular 8800 vs the Curve, on our corporate site the 8800 is 349 and the Curve is 299

The 8800 is positioned more towards business and corporate users, what without the camera and all. Those people are more likely to have their company paying for the device, therefore they can jack the price up. The Curve is more consumer-oriented and they need to keep a reasonable price as a result. From an end user standpoint, there's really no reason to get the 8800 over the Curve.

The pricing difference must be due to the 8800 sporting a GPS and the Curve, a camera. I believe the way phone cameras have been mass produced over the last few years, they would be cheaper than the GPS module/chip.

That would make some sense.

The built in very good GPS chip in the 8800 is worth $100-$150....

Beat me to it.... Battery life could also be a factor as the 8800 has 5hours talk and 22days standby, while the 8300 (curve) has 4hours talk and 17days standby.

I may just pick one up today.... Curve that is and use it as my COU line.

I would agree, the camera costs less to produce than the gps module.

I went with the 8800 for the extended talk time and the built in gps, much more useful than a camera for me.

Conspiracy theorists, unite!

j/k

Really, a functional GPS receiver on the 8800 trumps a el-cheapo camera lens on the Curve for me. I wouldn't be surprised to find that the GPS hardware is also more expensive than the camera components.

But I will acknowledge that the Curve is aimed more at consumers than is the 8800, hence the inclusion of the camera and removal of the GPS. Consumers won't typically pay as much for the more advanced features offered in the 8800 so the cheaper price is what the market can handle.
