Anyone out there manage to have rogers name display working on the s620. Also, does anyone know if it works with wm6.

Hi, sorry I don't have a Dash, but I'm kinda curious, "name display not working?" What is that exactly? Caller Id not working?

Rogers has regular caller id which shows the persons phone number and for about the last year has had name display which works like a normal phone line showing you the name and number of the person calling.

it works fine on my Rogers branded S621

That's exactly what I wanted to know! Thanks for the info. Now if anyone can tell me how or if it's possible to get it working on the S620 that would be awesome. It's been driving me crazy ever since I got it in January!

I remember someone in the Rogers Wireless section said the name display worked on the Rogers HTC Tytn.

Wow can't believe it, I bought the Ipaq 6955 that I thought was bleeding edge but was told it does not work with that unit after trying to get it working with Rogers for like 2 days it seemed. I am looking forward to trading up to the Tytn on Tuesday.

I got my Rogers Tytn today and the Name and Number display does work like a charm.

OK, so now I know for sure the htc units work with the Rogers software on them. Has anyone been able to get the S620 unbranded to have the name display. Any help would be appreciated.

Those of you that have the Rogers branded S621. Have you noticed a colour difference on the screens other than the HomeScreen? That is, one half of the screen vertically is lightly shaded the colour of the current main theme and the other is white? Its one of the reasons I returned this unit, but I wonder if it was just a bad batch that they had here in Vancouver.

Someone must know if this is possible. This is killing me, it's one of the features that's just hard to live without. Has anyone had any luck with the S620 and Rogers name display? How about if any other firmware is put on it, would that help?

Naftalim,

Yes, I have this. I think this colour gradient look is intentional. I actually like it. It's only on several of the screens/applications, but not everything. For example, in my calender, the colour gradient is on the Agenda view, but not on the weekly or monthly view.

yes it does work.I had it added on when i was using the samsung a706.I'm in Vancouver tho.

sigh...it'll only work with rogers firmware.

unbranded and WM6 tytn/dash users will be left out in the cold...unless someone can extract it from a rogers tytn and create a .cab file for all of us.

maybe the people on xda-developers can help?

Actually, I found a way to enable the feature using a registry editor.
You can find the setting in HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL. I changed these keys to a value of 1 (default 0):
Enable Rogers ALS
Enable Rogers CBM
Enable Rogers CNAP.

I'm not sure if they work on any other HTC phone, since I only tested it on the excalibur.

Your excalibur was an Rogers branded s621 and you upped to winMo 6?

I'm using an unbranded/unlocked Touch...will the registry keys work in that case?

the only reg key I have that is a 0 is the NITZEnable under RIL, what are the:
Enable Rogers ALS
Enable Rogers CBM
Enable Rogers CNAP.

Is this something you need to add? you you send me the exact keys, thank you all as this is something I really wanted to get working.

Hmm, odd..I tried to change the setting and it says access denied. I have a s621 unlocked with wm6.

I just downloaded and used PHM registry editor right on the phone itself. You need to go to Hkey_local_machine\drivers\builtin\RIL when you find the entries click on them and then use the soft key to select values and change them to 1. It works like a charm. Make sure to power off and on after and you should it working.

Mhstone...are you using a rogers branded htc? Cuz I don't see any of the "rogers" registry names anywhere. Only one I see is "NITZenable"

How come everytime I try to download resco it says it cant be viewed on the device? I have a rogers s621}t-mobile s620}unlocked HTC s620 with wm6 now

make sure you're downloading the smartphone version and not the pocket pc version.

I'm also looking for these files as my HTC Touch is not rogers branded so I'm assuming that's why I don't have the Enable Rogers registries.

No, my phone is not rogers branded, it is an S620 running WM6.

Sorry, I'm not trying to be funny, but the registry entries start with "enable" and they are sorted alphabetically, so make sure your not looking for an entry that starts with R.

I've tried both PHM and Resco.

Mine worked, just didnt work on the number my friend was calling from. But it has worked with other numbers today.

can someone post exactly what they look like in the reg. editor. In PHM in my phone it looks like this

Hello, I have a TYTN II, same problem. I bought a unlocked HTC branded unit.
I do not see the above REG keys (of course since its not from Rogers)
I wonder if I add the DWORD's if this will work.. Ill try with and withput spaces in the name

Hmm had the same problem where Rogers Caller ID only showing Numbers.

Tried adding the Regkey and rebooting after each attemot, but nothing

all values at 1.

no luck.

I do have a S710 unlocked purchased in Montreal.

I tried to edit the 3 keys with Mobiel Registry but when I do save any of the 3 values changes it says Acces Denied. Any Ideas??

So you're saying that your unbranded phone (has nothing to do with rogers) had rogers keys in the registry?

Has anyone found a solution to make this work on the TyTN II/Touch? I'm assuming that if the reg keys aren't there, it takes more than just inserting them. It must be installed somewhere.

Have an T-Mobile branded dash (s620) and currently unlocked and using FIDO as my carrier, Name display also doesn't work for me and I do not have the rogers entries in my registery. Guess its not meant to be

just to be clear, name display is different from call display right? if a random number calls me, i only have a number, not a name. will this be the same case on my dash when i get it, or will it say "unknown" or something?

I am going to try it on my Originally Rogers branded HTC TyTN that I purchased off eBay that has since been flashed to a WM6 rom from XDA-DEV.

it shouldn't work.
someone said they tried the original WM5 rogers ROM and reset before it could customize the ext. ROM and name display still worked. So apparently the setting is in the ROM, so if you have a non Rogers ROM it won't work.

There is a huge thread about this issue over at XDA-developers already and they haven't seen to come to a conclusion or solution to the problem either.
