Heard a Nokia N95 Rumor Today

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I was told by a store rep who I deem fairly reliable with his info that he was told there will be a HSDPA US N95 released around December on at&t. Of course that would mean we would probably see it sometime mid-08, but the thought is exciting. He said this is coming from a Nokia rep.

Take it for what it's worth, but it a least gives me hope.

I have $100 that says AT&T will never sell the N95 just like they never sold the N80. <------ remember that rumor? so many people were saying that Cingular was testing and was going to be offering the N80 in their lineup (which obviously never happened).

^ one of the MANY reasons why was due to the fact of how expensive the N80 straight out of the box. Cingular would've had to charge an arm and a leg for that phone just to break even. let's face it folks, $500+ phones don't sell too often.

the N95 is even more expensive than what the N80 was when it first came out. so like I said, it'll never happen. at least not with AT&T.....

but on a side note.... my N95 will be here tomorrow. I can't wait!

Yeah there is a rumor of a N95-2 with USA HSDPA but no one ever said that it was coming to a carrier.

-of course my statement won't apply to the iPhone which is gonna be an insane cash cow for both AT&T and Apple.

Seriously, though, how hard is it for nokia to enabled UMTS/HSDPA on 850 and 1900 as well as 2100? Palm does it, HTC does it, and Palm doesn't even have bluetooth 2.0 on the 750, but they can still manage a quadband GSM triband HSDPA phone.

I wouldn't believe all that you hear

They have their reasons which have been discussed extensively in the S60 forum.

I didn't think Palm had a device that was 850/1900/2100 HSDPA? Or HSDPA for that matter. Isn't the Treo 750 only UMTS and 850/1900?

That rumor is smashed at least partially due to the qualcomm Nokia lawsuit. Nokia a quoted saying that it will slow down the release of 3g nokia products. Se even if it is in the works I doubt you'll see it this year.

my N95 just came in. man-o-man this is one SWEET phone! it's expensive as hell, but freakin' sweet!

i had one of my managers say yes to this. right now its word of mouth but we heard its approved for testing

Posted by: tendura

Who cares if it's carried by AT&T or TMobile? As long as it has 850 or 1900 HSDPA (or either).

The US 3G N95 is supposed to be announced in June, with availability at the Flagship Stores in August. It will be Cingular's 3G bands, not T-mobile's, and will be unbranded.

I've heard rumors of AT&T looking at it as well, but there's no way in hell I'd pay that much money for a branded/crippled phone.

Posted by: mush10

Who cares if at&t gets it or not. I will be loving an unbranded 3G N95.

Edit: I know you don't RC, but didn't want it to seem that statement was aimed at you.

see, that's just ANOTHER reason why I've always enjoyed buying my unbranded phones when possible. this is so I can fully enjoy what the phone was made for and use all if it's intended goodies.

unlike AT&T that gets their kicks off of crippling most of their phones for God only knows whatever reasons why.

Oh they have a reason alright. They want you suck as much cash from you by forcing you to buy their garbage only through their portal.

I would get one when and if Nokia releases it supporting US bands and I can't wait.

the question is, why on earth would you or any one else buy that kind of garbage damn well know it'll be crippled to hell and back with AT&T's bs software?

like I said before, I just bought my N95 and it's incredible. this phone does almost everything and I do mean everything. I spend a lot of time at one of my COR stores and all the reps are still in the "ooh and ahh" stage from seeing my N95.

it's actually pretty cool knowing that you have a phone that most people don't have.

Posted by: bOii wOnd3r x3

omg why do people even come up with these rumors . the N95 is TOO F*CKIN EXPENSIVE for AT&T to brand . DONT WISH FOR THIS PHONE . SAVE THE $700 AND GO BUY IT UNLOCKED . just look at what happened to the "Cingular Branded N80" . it NEVER came out . so what did i do. BUY IT UNLOCKED . SO DO THE SAME

i said bring it down im down to buy it when it comes out unbranded for the U.S., ATT version crippled probably not but who knows. It would at least have the 3G requirements for the U.S. not europe. Humm $700 on a european version or $700 on a U.S. Version? you decide

Posted by: xbox360gamer

me not having the US 3G isn't no biggie because believe it or not, the EDGE version of the N95 is pretty snappy when it comes to web browsing.

Posted by: mush10

I am all in for the US version. The only reason I stayed away from the Euro verison, is now that I have tasted HSDPA, I can't go back to EDGE.

Depending on results for sales on the iPhone, at&t will use that to determine whether or not they will be picking up more expensive handsets. All about the risk and demand in higher-end products.

So while I might not care for the iPhone, it does give us a good reason to see that it sells well...
