HTC S730 vs. Nokia N95

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok guys...so I've been lurking around here quite a long time. And ive narrowed it down to 2 phones. My only dilemma is that one is out now....and i get it at a pretty good price (N95), and one is "supposed" to be out in "July" S730.

I'm by no means a gadget expert, so i would love to hear people opinions about these two crazy sweet phones, pro/cons, do's/dont's, release date for the S730,...etc....

Who's gonna be first up to bat?

N95 feels cheap and poorly made.
Which is a let down, because there was so much build up for this phone and that is not Nokias reputation.

Once you use a pda/smartphone you can never go back to a regular phone.

Wait for the s730 (but i dont think its going to be out for awhile)

Better yet... Just get the HTC KAISER

Yes... i Have just decided wait for the Kaiser! = D

Wait for the VGA screen PPC's like Eten X800 or i-mate Ultimate series.

I wouldn't wait for an ETen anything. Cheapest feeling phones ever.

I will own a P4550 once it's released. Everyone else should follow

well the n95 is great but like someone aberit does feel cheaply name and it looks and feels fragile whe yo use it. htc phone are nice and made of quality and also like someone said once you go smartphone or ppc you will never go back to regular

Although I would have gone for the N95, the fact remains that with all the fun packed in, the battery is less than S730. Not by much but still any little bit helps.

There is also the ram issue. I can tell you for a fact that the wing will have more free ram after a reboot. Simply by the fact that it runs the less RAM hog that is WM-Smarphone. Since even my HTC using the same amount of RAM, and with five programs running in the background I still start off with about 25megs of free ram.

Also HTC and Nokia both have generally high quality standards. My experience with N95s has not been as bad as some of the previous posters.

The S730 is going to be a strong contender for my next device. I'm hoping Cingular/ATT picks it up, but if they don't, it may still be worth it's expected high-price-tag for the features it's gonna bring to the table.

- small
- i prefer the one-handed smartphone (wm6 standard) flavor of the OS
- qwerty
- scrollwheel (this will be really nice i think)
- 400mhz, really starting to get tired of a 200mhz omap
- 3g, doesn't do me much good, but would be nice to have it
- wifi
- did i say small

Prior to becoming a Windows Mobile addict, I was a huge Nokia fan, so I can't speak ill of the N95, but I'm not familiar enough w/ the Symbian OS to make a call between the two. But given what I've seen of the N95, I'd go w/ the S730 if it were me.

some good and strong opinions by alll but when i was reading the reviews from all the cell phone site... i it was saying how the n95 is one of the best phones to ever hit the market but i have to say that all HTC phones stand up to there name

Good stuff guys!!! Keep 'em coming.

The N95 im getting is 400 with a 2 year agreement....NOW, heres the cool question. Since he's an independant shop. When the S730 hits, will i be able to get that sucker on an upgrade at a 2 yr. commitment price.

I have the n95, and first and foremost its not a regular phone, it is a smartphone first, secondly does not feel cheap, its actually very nice and light weight, its amazing they put all that into a nice size. 3rd it never loses the phone feel if its important to u. As for the 2 devices what do u want in a phone. the n95 is a multi media beast, Top camera on the market, tv out, 3.5mm jack built into it for easy connections, gps, excellent video recording, great multi media slide funtion, tons of 3rd party applications, excellent screen quality, very visible in direct sunlight, true battery isnt great, its doable in my opinion, just make sure u have a carcharger, or extra charger available, as with all the pdas ie: treo 750, smartphone like black jack and 8525 because we tend to use the hell out of the devices, but it really goes to your needs so u decide.

I own the HTC S620 and a N95 and there both great, but like Truth said by no means is the N95 a regukar phone, it has the same amount of "smartness" that a WM phone has. To me it feels solid, I actuallu like the build quality, I like the fact that it's the same weight as my excalibur, but just a bit thicker. With the S730, your getting a faster proc. and most importanly US 3G. I guess it depends on long you feel like waiting?

its available now but I dont think it compares to the Nokia N95.

for someone like me who has the HTC S630 Cavalier and the At&t Tilt version of the HTC Kaiser/TyTN II, then I think i'd rather go with the N95 for something different because where as before i thought that the s730 would combine the best of the s630 and Kaiser i feel now its more neither here nor there and almost the worst of both worlds being thicker then the s630 and possibly smaller screen and no touch screen like the kaiser and def smaller screen.

the 8gb N95 seems to be the ultimate iphone killer so i dont thin the htc s730 and n95 even really compare as they are different type of phones.
