Data Cables- if it fits, does it work?

I just got my new phone, well used phone...SE44 Slider. My data cable from my Audiovox 8910 fits in the SE44. When i plug it in to my laptop nothing happens. Doesnt know a USB device is in or anything. Are there any settings i need to change on the phone to tell it to activate the port? I told it in Network to do data only until phone off. Still nothing.

So not sure if its me or the cable.

yes, the plugz are the same -24 pins, but the se44 has no usb, that's why nothing happens when plugging. Solder or buy a serial cable.

You are welcome. You need only three pins in it. Tx, Rx and Gnd.
