This only been answered a million times in this thread alone. There is a 300kb file size limit on ringtones. You have to edit registries to make this limit larger.

i removed that "maxfilesize" reg key and i still have the 300k limit.... other than that, the blackjack works great with wm6!

Personally, I think 300k is not a bad thing. It limits memory consumption of ringtones as the selected ringtone will be loaded into memory all the time.

I don't know how you rate this as great. To me, no ICS, no voice dialing over BT, this WM6 is worse than current WM5 ROM other than a few pretty screen and icons.

Posted by: chsoriano

Well I'm putting WM5 back on my phose as I type this, I would keep it if it weren't for the battery drain, I've been trying to disable stuff, even tried disabling 3G and it was still the same.

And I'm also going to have to agree, a 5mb mp3 file loaded into ram is kind of senseless, you only hear about 25 seconds anyway. I edit all of my mp3's that I want as ringtones to make them smaller.

The size limit is an insult to those of us who have 1gb+ MicroSD cards.

The vast majority of my 30 second ringtones come in above the 300k mark.

Posted by: Dervatl

I have to agree with Foxbat121 about the voice dialing. The lack of this option has been my greatest dissapointment on this phone. I was (and am still) hoping that it will have VD when the final version is released. Being able to voice dial while driving is absolutely the best thing ever. In the future, any new phone that doesn't have this feature fully implemented will not come home with me, regardless of it's cool factor.

The weird thing is Samsung produced the best voice dialing phone I've ever owned a couple of years ago. I can't remember the model now, but it worked great. I thought every phone they made in the future would have this option. I was wrong on that one.

I ended up buying my last phone in Europe (model was not sold here) just to have this feature. I bought the Blackjack mainly for its 3G ability. I never realized how much I would miss the bluetooth voice dialing.

Yeah, but saved to your sd card and loaded into ram are two different issues, I guess it just comes down to opinion. But you gotta sacrifice somewhere...

How do you edit the registry on this one?

Same as before, just download a smartphone registry editor, you can find one here: http://www.i607.org/wiki/doku.php

Posted by: rjl2001

Question for those of you running this file on your blackjack. Do you still get the popping noise when listening to mp3's with wired headsets using an adapter? Saw one post where somebody said he didn't notice the popping sound problem after the update.

Posted by: runbuh

Does anyone know how to fix the repeat rate? The new ROM has a "staggered" repeat rate for the keyboard. It starts slow for about three repeats, then speeds up. I'd rather it be speedy the whole time. You'll really notice this when scrolling through screens (browser, contacts, whatever). At first, I thought my BlackJack was being sluggish when scrolling, it turns out it's just the repeat rate.

Posted by: SprintNewbie

I still hear the popping noise, however video playback is MUCH better.

You can have 1TB MicroSD, but your phone will still only have 50MB RAM. Half of which will be used already when you boot up the phone. Your MP3 rington will further eat into the remaining RAM.

Holy crap... I've had my Blackjack off the charger for MAYBE 1.5 hours... I am down to 2 bars on my slim battery.

Yesterday the phone was great, lasted all day on the one charge. I rebooted the phone this morning, it started to get really warm (as reported by others) and now I just looked at my battery life and its almost dead.

What gives?

Posted by: IlKevinlI

Everything in the registry is fine. Just doesn't work for me. Has anyone else gotton this to work ?

it looks like it works, it connects, loads rndis internet sharing drivers on the computer etc BUT when it comes to traffic data, it just craps out and never finishes initialization

it's a shame, i'll see if there is any other dll dependencies etc but it seems like it might be a buggy build to begin with

Well all your cons are not valid. We have no Voice Dialing over BT to begin with. ICS is available, it just requires a little reg editing.

Posted by: SilverJack

Ok i got it working so it seems....
I have the shortcut in my start folder and it opens the application.
I can connect to my laptop and even get an IP address but for some reason i can not load any webpages at all. I can use DUN and it works fine but i'd rather connect via bluetooth.
any ideas?

So, Samsung didn't fix anything that is known to be broken.

Wrong, read posts carefully. You need first copy a few missing files someone else ripped off DASH WM6 ROM. So we get a major feature reduction.

So, tell me how can a ROM upgrade that not only failed to fix existing bugs but also removed existing features be called great? WM6.0 itself is a small step forward from WM5.0, not a huge leap in the first place as Microsoft wants to release it as a stop gap measure while they work on next generation WM OS. Now you have this half-bake Cingular ROM with half of the WM6 feature missing. No thanks.

Posted by: vdospec

The download link does not work anymore?, can someone please point me to a new download link for WM6 for the Samsung Blackjack?

Posted by: baimo

I also never got the ics to work prooperly. It connected as a modem to computer but could not connect to any web pages.
I have switched back to wm5 and will give the next version of wm6 a try. Thank goodness for sprite backup - it makes these beta tests much easier - restored all my settings and files after I reflashed wm5.

Yesterday, the thing was practically smoking hot, and did the same. Today, it's just fine, not sucking the battery dry. Looks like just a random glitch with the radio. The good news is that if AT&T/Samsung didn't know about it before the leak, I'm sure they're aware of it now

it seems like there is either a bug in this rom or we're missing something still...i'd me more than willing to tinker some more and even create a custom rom to try on my phone but as far as i'm aware there is no tools for the BJ like that...i've got the WM5 files from the BJ, WM6 files from the Dash but they're not much good without rom cooking utils

the computer will never acquire an ip address for the rndis sharing interface (local area network #XX will always have the autoconfigure IP of 169.*.*.*.*)

i tried manually forcing it to the proper IP adresses (phone is automatically 192.168.0.1 and is also supposed to be the gateway) but still no go. my pc was 192.168.0.2 and i was able to ping both the phone and my pc from the phone but there was no outside world communication.

oh well, i'll let some smarter folks try to figure out whats going on. unfortunately i do use ICS with my blackjack so not having is is a bummer. and im not gonna go backwards in usability with DUN and other tricks just so i can say i have wm6 running :P

Did you check to make sure it was charging? I plugged my phone in last night and about 5 minutes later I look on the screen and it wasn't showing the charging icon, so I removed the charger and put it in again, then it started charging. This morning, I wake up with a fatal exception error on my phone, along with the "Main Battery really low" warning even though my charger was plugged in the whole night. Then when I look at the home screen, it's not showing the charging indicator BUT the battery is full.

I know the slim battery sucks alot of life. Do you have anything using real-time? I know if I leave IM on, my phone getting really warm to close to hot. I'm on the extended battery now, but it seems normal. I'll try with the slim and see if I'm getting the same problem.

This is the exact same problem I was having.

Viper - I think you're onto something. I noticed I plugged my phone in at work and it did the SAME thing. I wiggled the plug and it was indeed secure. Unplugged the phone and it still made the "unplug" sound (beep beep, ya know?). Plugged the phone in again and it actually charging.

I think there is a couple bugs... unfortunately even if the slim battery hadn't charged, I looked at it when it had 2 bars left (approx 40%?) and then got a main battery low warning less then 1 hours later. That seems really quick.

Where can I get Sprite Backup?

Posted by: thelastsamurai

I noticed that after installing the update > reboot.. i get AIM, MSN, and Yahoo on the AT&T theme, but when I switch to another theme, I don't see the options... I went to IM & EMail > IM, and all I got is AIM, am I looking at the wrong place?

*Update Solution*.. If you are running amore then 1 IM program make sure you close it, reopen IM and you should have the 3 choices to pick from. I don't get why they didn't add these icons for recent apps.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also... I notice that my phone light goes on even when I don't push a button, it keeps lighting itself up every 3-4 mins then dim, then black then lights up again.

Suggestions?

another wm6 besides voice command not announcing incoming calls. Live Search cannot dial out from the phone links. It does work through IE's call links.

I love the update for the most part, but I miss bluetooth PAN functionality.

Do you mean your Audi Q7? If so, does that mean that your phone address book contents download to your Q7? With the WM5 ROMs, the address book did not download on BMW's and Acuras. I thought Audi's were also in the problem group. In my BMW (2006 530xi), I still do not get an address book download. I can take calls, and even place calls via voice dial by telling my car something like "Dial 555-555-1212". I just can't voice dial by saying "Dial Tracy Home" because the car can't access my BlackJack address book. That also means I can't pull up the address book and scroll through it on my car's address book screen. Other WM5 phones, like the 3125, 8125, 8525, Motorola Q, etc. download the address book just fine in my BMW.

Could you elaborate more on what you can and can't do with via BT in your Q7?

There should be a "MaxFileSize" key there, just delete it, and close the reg editor. Now go into sounds, and BAM, your ringtones are back!

Has anyone figured out how to get rid of the UGLY 3G icon? I've tried everything and can't get rid of it. And another thing I've noticed, is Opera Mobile is about half as slow as IE in bandwidth tests. With IE, I get around 900Kbps, with Opera, about 500Kbps. I just think that's a little weird is all, and it's not WM6, as it happened with WM5. So far, that's really the only gripe I have, now if we can find some good WM6 themes, I'd be happy

I could not find the MaxFileSize. I'm using Total Commander. Any ideas?

Posted by: Ishimaru

I couldn't think of the exact file name, but seeing as some people are saying its "FileSizeLimit"; look for that in the exact place, and you should find it. I deleted the key and didn't remember it; my apologies.

There is no need to rush out and upgrade. This is just a sign that the official upgrade is right around the corner.

Posted by: wnpublic

One fun thing about the update is that Bubble Breaker is fundamentally broken in fun ways. I got a top score of 11,500 in Megashifter because it just kept adding only blue colored balls.

While I think the weak connection in the port *could* result in a non-full charge, I don't think that's the problem most people are suffering from. I charge my batteries in a standalone charger for one thing. But I just put WM5 back on my BJ last night, and the slim battery after being used for about 16 hours, with Windows Live Mail & Messenger online the entire time, still has about 60% left. Definitely some kind of problem with WM6 seeing that the slim battery would die after less than 12 hours with WM6.

Like someone pointed out earlier it could be poor memory management. I personally think it has something to do with the radio, or processor usage, but that's just my opinion, I'm definitely no phone expert.

im not doubting this happens, but my bj with wm6 didnt have any battery issues. it seemed to be about on par with wm5 with medium usage...i am in relatively good coverage area though

For all of you who are reporting warm batteries, rapidly discharging batteries, charging problems, etc., could you mention how your email is configured and what other software you have loaded on to the device? For example, I am not have any problems with the new ROM. I am only doing push email from my company's Exchange servers, and I have loaded Google Maps, NewsBreak 2 (6 hour refresh), and Dash Weather.

I know this has been brought up before in this thread but I can not find either the "FileSizeLimit" or "MaxFileSize" files. I have Total Commander and going into registry>HCKU>control panel>sounds like it says a few posts back but nothing. I have like 100 songs on my memory card, I would hate to have to get a ringtone from Cingular. Any thoughts? Is Total Commander a bad program to use for this? How do I resize my songs to fit the 300k? Help.

I can't help you with registry edit part. But even if you buy a ringtone from Cingular, it is usually not in the format Windows Mobile can recognize IIRC. Your phone probably never will play more than 300k worth of your music before the call get routed to voice mail. So, 300k is a rational limit to limit the unnecessary memory consumption by your ringtone. To resize them, you will need a music editing software on your desktop PC to edit them.

Can you be a little more specific? I don't see a "values" key.

Do I need to reset the phone after deleting one of this things?

I used a different regeditor and I forget exactly what the keys and values were. But it was not too difficult. I have removed wm6 from my device so I can no longer go back and look. sorry

More on battery life/hot battery:

Following the first day, mine seems to have calmed down. I haven't had a recurrence of the issue for two days, and battery life is about the same as wm5. so who knows.

Posted by: cpm30

Yeah the first time I used the streaming radio I had that problem, now it's working fine. Hopefully AT&T will release a finalized version of that ROM that contains these fixes. I was playing with a T-Mobile Dash and it's just a lot sharper looking in my opinion with the music plug in and home screen.

Before I had the time to install much software, the battery was warm, but like others have said that subsides.

However, for 3 days I had the battery drain issue, and I only had Windows Live Mobile installed, one other POP3 e-mail account set to check for mail every 1 hour, and the Windows Live Search App. That's all. I had Windows Live Messenger signed in most of the time. The extended battery would die within 24 hours.

Since then I have installed WM5 back on the phone, my slim battery has already lasted me more than 24 hours. Same exact applications are installed, nothing more, nothing less (except those apps included in WM6 like Office Mobile), and the same e-mail accounts and messenger settings are applied.

I might give it another go and install again and try to leave it alone for about an hour after I install the rom.

Mine got hot before I even setup any email, infact the only apps I had installed were google maps and voice command.

It seems to be ok right now though.

Maybe its just luck...

I have upgraded the ROM to WM6 on my unlocked blackjack and am using it with T-Mobile without problems. Still working on un-branding everything tho

Posted by: mixxxk

hello all... in regards to the ringtone issue with the cap of 300k on wm6... the fix above is somewhat right, but to explain it easily, all u do is delete the "filesizelimit" regkey. just as it was stated in previous posts... i used total commander btw... now the trick is this... u cannot go into storage card, then hit "set as.." bc u will still get the error of 300k, however, using activesync, just drag n drop ur tones into the "My Ringtones" folder on the root directory... then when u scroll thru on the blackjack, u will now see ur tone available for selection and working ! sucks, but it works.

I don't see the point of using BlackJack on T-Mo. You're better off use a T-Mo DASH which already has official WM6 support + Wi-fi. With a BlackJack, you can never use the 3G part on T-Mo (T-Mo 3G, when available, will be on totally different frequency) and you don't have wi-fi to compensate the slow EDGE speed.

I now rescind my comment: The warm battery issue is definitely happening. I just turned my phone back onto AUTO GSM/WCDMA in the bandsel.exe, I did just have it under WCDMA.

After doing this, I set my phone down on a COLD leather couch while I watched a t.v. about an hour later I pick up my phone and its extremely warm. It was soo warm that the area around the phone on the couch was warm and made the rest of the couch feel freezing cold. In conclusion, I think it has to do with the phone switching from GSM to WCDMA because my phone didn't do it when I was just in WCDMA.

I'm also still having the problem when typing in someones name in the dialer screen it ends up missing names in the contact list who I recently called and no matter what I do, their name will not show up unless I go into the phonebook and select their name.

SUMMARY: warm battery issue is 99.99999% confirmed, not all names showing up in dialer screen when typed in, I'm taking WM6 off my phone.

I agree. I realize that I might be a bit of an oddity here but I just picked up my BJ ( unlocked) because I had it with my BB 7105. I'm on TMO and it runs fine, all of the features that were either missing or crippled by TMO on the BB. I WAS interested in the upgrade to WM6 on the theory that I could then be in line to get the TMO version of BBconnect and re-establish the push of my emails through BIS. However after reading just half of these posts it is crystal clear to me that I need to wait. I'll post the few questions I have about other BJ features on the appropriate threads. For now thanks so much guys for sharing your experiences. This is exactly what a forum is supposed to be about and it is why time and again I keep coming back to HoFo. Peace.

It works fine for me, but I switched to IM+ so I don't have to use my text messages for AIM.

Do you think it could be something with my buddylist? Some people have informed that but I have no idea how to fix it. I even did a hard reset and a soft reset with no luck.

Maybe teh BlackJack is Smaller?? than the dash?

No. There are about the same size. 3G is the only thing BlackJack has advantage over DASH.

What do you mean by about?, the Q is about the same size as the blackjack, but when compared side by side there is a big difference, the BJ is very thin.

Also can you unlock the Dash as you can teh Blacjack to use with other carriers?

DASH is thin as well but two are in slightly different shape but size wise, they are comparable.

You can unlock DASH easily. In fact, T-Mo offered free phone unlock long before Cingular did.

I see the dash got slightly lower marks than the blackjack, mainly because of sluggish speed.

I also read tehat the dash weighs more than the Q, and is larger, he Blackjack is definatly smaller than eh Q, to me Size is a big Deal. Makes a phone, especially a smartphone. My son has the Q and it is quite a bit larger. And teh dash weighs more than the q, and teh BJ is lighter then the Q.

I think the battery drain issue is due to the BJ not disconnecting from the data network when it is done. If I notice mine getting hot, I can go to the Wireless Manger and choose "Disconnect cellular data" from the menu and it cools down fast.

I am debating about going back to WM5...

Possible to flash from Vista? I couldn't with x64 and I didn't try with x86.

I dont know if any one else had this issue when you installed wm6 on the blackjack, when ever I press the end button to end a call it does not disconnect, it is really annoying, at first i thought my phone is broken, then I re installed the wm 5 it worked like a charm.
This wm6 upgrade is not ready, hopefully the final release will work

I have not had this issue?

In fact I have not had any issues people have reported, such as a hot phone or worse battery life etc.. I made sure MSFT updates are NOT auto checking, I receive about 25 push mails per day and talk on the phone about 60 minutes a day. I keep my phone set GSM/GPRS (850) unless I really need 3G. I don't need ICS at the moment (although I hope that will installed when the Samnsung/Cingular WM6 ROM is G/Ad.

Some of the posts have sort of 'bashed' the ROM or WM6 to some degree. To be fair to the software and hardware vendor(s( involved, nobody forced us to install the 'leaked' ROM. As well as to the best of my knowledge we are not involved in a official customer early adopter, or beta program where we could officially provide the vendor(s) our feedback. (Maybe they don't care?)
I can only assume they might read the posts.

Ok enough of my soapbox...

Best Regards.

I did after I installed WM6 last weekend but once I rebooted the phone it worked fine. Had the same issue with the back button but I've not had further trouble with that since.

Ok so since I installed WM6 I haven't had a chance to reinstalled Windows Live, well I reinstalled it and it works, no problems there, but I can't get the Today Screen for it to work. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I just get that blank screen with the error on it. I tried to make a Today Screen with WM Live stuff, the OZ Pluggin and a Messages Pluggin and the Profiles Pluggin, I can't get it to work. Has anyone else had any problems like that? If anyone has a Today screen with those items that works, I would appriciate it.

I did notice the warm battery the other night I lost two bars in a matter of an hour. This was the first time it happened though, and it hasn't happened since. It was odd I didn't do anything differently. Oh well, other than those two things I am still liking WM6, it rocks!

Posted by: Kevad007

Is there any way to tell the date of this leaked WM6 version, or a build date? We know it showed up in late May, but is there any thing within it that lets us know when it was finalized? If a new leaked version shows up soon will this be called "leak one" and then next one "leak two"? I heard from someone fairly up there at Samsung that AT&T and Samsung are still talking about what to include/allow or not. Anyone have any predictions, will another leaked version show up in the next few weeks or is this it till its official, cause I don't think we will see the official version till the earliest mid-August, and maybe into September and that is despite the earlier 8 weeks from late May talk?

Hi guys. I'm a but of a noob, so I apologize if this question has already been answered.

Does WM6 include Bluetooth DUN? It's my understanding that it should, however, all the posts about Internet Connection Sharing not being included makes me think that it isn't.

Bluetooth DUN is the only feature I'm interested in at this point, so I can connet to my TomTom.

Thanks for the assistance!

This ROM update is a great start but after reading all 22 pages of this thread I decided not to install. I use ICS a lot while on the road. Not having this will suck and I don't feel like modding it just to get it working. Also the battery thing is not healthy either. Lithium batteries are very fragile and don't like to be drained fast or they get hot and it can ruin them. Also I was hoping better BT support would be available in the WM6 release. I will just wait for the official release. If ATT removed it from their forum then it must mean they don't want everyone using it.

My Blackjack ran a LOT hotter, and 3 hour runtime with the standard battery is unacceptable. Also the constant errors and crashes really got old.

I also went back to WM5 after the same issues as most others. However, I installed WM6 again a few days ago and things are great. I did have some issues yesterday with heat and bettery life; this appears to be releated to something holding the data connection open. I've been trying to determine which program this may be and removed Newsbreak yesterday - I have not had a problem since (it's only been a day, so I can't say that is the problem). What applications are others installing that may cause issues?

You really shouldn't be selling it on eBay, you will probably get negative feedback when the buyer sees how bad the WM6 beta is!

i have ZERO issues with it...

Me too YAY!

PS
If anyone wants me to upload this to my server, I'll do it. I have no qualms about posting it.

Posted by: razardica

Anybody else noticing that their 3G radio is constantly active?

This could be the cause of the hot battery/weak battery.

I went and closed all of my processes including bthbond...new one on me, and it's still active. After I go to Wireless Manager, right softkey, disconnect cellular data...it still goes back on.

PS - Other than that, I had zero installation problems and no stability problems thus far. Everything is more reactive and the text parser is worlds faster. No more PIE white screen, and now you can tell if you're on 3G or 3.5G.

If the final version isn't ready what is its current status and does it improve on anything over the beta?

Sweet, thanks!

If you can get any other info about the update, whether you think its useless info, let us know!

Has anyone else that gets the hot battery issue tried disabling Video Sharing and seeing if that helps. I had to restart my phone for the first time since updating it to WM6 today...it lasted a whole week without a reboot. I noticed that after I had charged the phone the first time, a process errored out and died and I stopped getting the hot battery issue. I'm thinking that the Video Sharing app is constantly using the radio so it is killing the battery life and making the processor work WAY too hard.

I'm thinking that the Video Sharing app is constantly using the radio so it is killing the battery life and making the processor work WAY too hard.

After the initial hot battery and a recharging I haven't had any issues.

I turned video sharing off -- no luck, still shows the 3G as constantly active.

That's interesting...I turned it off, rebooted my phone, and magically the hot battery issue stopped. I also noticed that memory useage dropped severly.

It seemed to be that Video Sharing caused it, but maybe it's just a random thing.

I never had the hot battery issue, but I don't like that the modem is constantly on.

Anybody figured out how to do BT PAN with WM6 yet?

No ICS = no BT PAN. ICS is not available in this alpha ROM.

Posted by: razardica

I have the T-Mo Dash ICS files installed.

Can anybody who hasn't updated to WM6 give me their BTPAN registry keys?

Posted by: enin

Has anybody had any issues with the data connection just deciding not to work anymore? I did a master reset and still no luck. I know it's not the line , and I hope it's just wm6 being stupid.

Posted by: crosbyme

What error are you getting? I had a problem where I was getting "The remote party has ended this connection." when using PIE. I called at&t and they fixed it - she said my phone "was stuck on a certain tower for some reason".

Posted by: childers2

Could some one please send me the ICS files from the dash for WM6?

Posted by: japo

Does anyone know where I can get the WM6 update now? I have looked everywhere and cant find it. Can someone send it to me please

Posted by: flipwalter

I also would like to play with the new rom if someone could be so kind

Posted by: bleuzz

The file is no longer available at "http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TAO1U2FV". Does anyone know of an alternate link?

Thanks

Posted by: gutta561

i was wondering if anyone figured out how to change the limit size for your ringtones i usually make songs on my mp3 player ringtones but when i try it says file must be smaller than 300k and thats nothing after that my update is working fine

Posted by: ~~Tito~~

Can any one make the rom together with the necessary files needed? Will this work on the already branded at&t version?

Posted by: pabuzz24

Not sure if this was mentioned or not already since this thing is 25 pages long but anyhow...

I was having trouble with my phone constantly accessing the internet, even when I had no programs running, draining the battery in a half day. I went into:

Settings-Connections-GPRS and deleted IMS CINGULAR.
After that, you have to power cycle the phone.

That seems to have taken care of the problem, and the constant buzzing sound I was getting on my radio at work.

Hope this will help some of you that were having issues with battery life. Otherwise, I haven't had any other issues with WM6 .

What up peeps...?

I'm about to make the plundge to WM6 on this Blackjack.
I've noticed that some of you need files from the original.
Make a list and I'll extract & post them on rapidshare for all before I flash to WM6.

That setting was used for mms, without it you cannot send mms.

This question has been posted like 5 times already.

Bluetooth PAN requires ICS, which is not working. We have the files from a T-Mobile Dash, but it will not issue IP addresses correctly when connected to a computer.

NO BLUETOOTH PAN IS ONE CON OF WM6 ON THE BLACKJACK.

Except that this version is just a beta and in the final release it will be in it

That may very well be, but it doesn't seem to stop people from posting the same question 5 times

I erased the IMS CINGULAR setting then tried to send an MMS to myself and it wouldn't work....tried opening internet explorer, no connection. I turned the phone off, then turned it back on, resent the MMS, and it was fine....same with internet explorer. Not sure if you really need that setting or not but all seems fine for me without it.

Posted by: vdospec

Does anyone know how to add the Windows Media Player to the Start Menu, my Media Player is missing from my Home Screen and I always have to go into my task manager to start it up.

My thought was the IMS connection is for video sharing, not MMS. I didn't test that theory but it sounds like you did.

There are only a few small issues that I have with this ROM:

1. I can't use the keys like I could before. If I wanted to type a 4 instead of a D when texting, I would just hold down the 4/D key and it would do it. Same for all the others, like exclamation marks, etc. Now I need to press the Fn key to get it to work.
2. Some of the shortcuts don't work anymore.

My main gripe is the first one though, as I really got used to that.

LOL I stand corrected, the promo ends this month.

Why they don't give us this info ahead of time, pisses me off!

Posted by: bleuzz

My thanks go out to both nvisi0n and DarkJedi for providing new download links for the ROM. I really appreciate it.

Posted by: nvisi0n

my pleasure, I can't wait for the final real build!

Posted by: kevwalker

It seems that after the upgrade, my XpressMail push client will not sync via the schedule settings. Also, when I manually Send/Receive to the Gmail account I set up upon install, I get a Roaming message. Anyone else with this problem or have any thoughts, fixes?

Posted by: kevwalker

It seems that Push picked back up and started working.
I still get the roaming notification upon a manual send/receive.
Overall, I'd have to say I haven't had many problems with this Beta.
No hot battery or charging issues.
Internet was configured correctly.
I do wish the key mapping was finished.
I don't use ICS often, so that hasn't been an issue.
I also haven't seen an increase in speed or memory usage, but on the flipside, I haven't seen any leaks as of yet. (Installed last night).
I do want to figure out how to edit the XML code of the homescreen to add the Live Search bar (anyone successful here?).
Still looking forward to the official version, if ever released.

Posted by: netronin

I've re-installed it for the second time and this time have disabled video share and hard set it to GSM and haven't seen any hot battery issues or memory leaks. I have a feeling both are related to video share as that is a new feature and prone to bugs in the beginning. I've had wm6 running now for 3 days and the only bug I've seen is the slow scrolling.

Looking forward to the official release but if it keeps behaving like this, I will keep using it until that time arrives.

Posted by: ivwshane

Scrolling seems fine for me, keep in mind that it starts off slow and then slowly increases in scrolling speed.

I'm considering installing this update, but need to know a couple things.

First, I have an unlocked BJ and am using it in Canada on Fido. I'm wondering if I Install the update, will my phone be locked to Cingular/ATT??

Second - What is the best way to completely back up the phone including WM5? I seem to recall from an old pocket pc I used to be able to back up using activesync, but don't see a backup option in activesync 4.5.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I noticed that as well. If that's how it's going to be, then I guess I'll get used to it but I prefer the wm5 behavior. Could just be controlled by a registry entry that someone will no doubt find.

Once unlocked...always unlocked.

Activesync does not include a backup utility...try Sprite Backup.
