Everything else is great. Just forget about restoring backups. Manually setup EVERYTHING. I only sync'd my contacts over from Activesync. Its been running like a champ since (almost a month). I don't even get the unresponsive end key after I set everything up manually. |

WM6 doesn't seem to like one of my home made home screens. It'll load it the first time, but then after a while I'll go into something else and when I come back, there's an error loading it. The lack of holding a key to get the alternate character will take some getting used to, but not a total deal breaker yet. I noticed that my d/l speeds seem slower from the DSLreports mspeed test. I used to get close to a 1Mb, not I'm in the 600Kb range. |

I guess I've been the one making the wrong assumption. The only ROM I've downloaded for the BJ was the leaked one fron fourms.cingular.com so I assumed it would be coming from AT&T with all the AT&T branding and apps installed. I'm using mine with T-mobile so I'd strip as much of that away anyhow. Thanks for the clarification.

Still I do wish it to come out ASAP with perhaps some Firmware fixes. I think it will be out very soon now, it will help out a bit, but I cannot see its availability being any factor against the apparent AT&T crises concern of protecting iPhone sales at any cost or consequence. WM6 does not change my position at all, I still have no interest in the iPhone until it has 3G, Full Exchange interoperation, and a way to get it about $150 cheaper. AT&T, it is time, Let us BJ owners have WM6 and be done with it already, Geeeez!

I haven't tried the IBM java, but I never had any luck with it in the first place. The softkeys did not work in WM5. very frustrating. personally, i'm popping my gmail, but it would be nice to have the option to go in and mark certain things as spam, or star conversations, etc. hope that helps. |

I've been using it for about a week and a half and haven't had any problems at all. Speed is better, but I am, of course, overclocked to 252. I know some people can't tell the difference, but I surely can. It just seems to draw the screen faster. Oh, and one other bonus I haven't seen anyone mention... Cellular (Cingular) Video now plays full screen! I just ran across that gem the other day. Now, if Samsung will just get their freakin BT stack improved (so the phone doesn't slow to a crawl listening to music), this will be just about perfect. For the record, the only third party apps I run are Fizz Weather, Facade, OMAPClock, SLiClock (well and XpressMail, if you count that). I have toyed a little with PocketPlayer (just because I want some freakin EQ and replay gain settings when listening to music), but it almost has too many features for this poor little underpowered processor. All the nifty DSP settings just bring this to a crawl, so I'm still limping along with WMP. EDIT: One little issue with WMP on WM6... I notice sometimes that WMP gets stuck in some kind of "refresh" loop in the library when starting. I can't seem to figure out what conditions cause this, but frustrating. You try to scroll down to select a playlist and the screen refreshes before you can even get down the list... so your highlighted item is back at the top again. I have tried a hard reset after I noticed this the first time, but it doesn't fix it. Most of the time ending the task and restarting also doesn't fix it. The only way around it is to just browse "My Stuff" and click on the actual playlist file. I would consider this one major for anyone that uses the library very extensively. |

Bottom line: Unit shipped with Cingular ROM on it (No update produced), there was an AT&T WM5 update and now a pre-release WM6 update. You can run either of those versions at will, but if you upgrade you can kiss your Cingular WM5 goodbye forever. |
