well ive got it the dump dumped to its structure, no internet sharing like i suspected

rom is dated 9/11/2007, same date as the first help jpgs were posted on at&t's answer center site.. my laptop is slow so i might not be able to get it up til tomorrow. Sooner than at&t either way

In the other thread over at Smartphones the guy who got this on his phone has just indicated that the holding the end button locks the phone and holding down does produce the upper characters.

Can someone who's downloaded that UCGF1 cooked rom I posted earlier take the .bin file out and post it somewhere other than rapidshare to download? I need the flasher out of there to post a complete package and rapidshare is blocking me for a couple hours lol. Or we can wait til i get home :P

Nice... I wanna see this rom dump tonight while I got time. The lack of ICS really makes me mad though.

I don't use it as much, but I do travel to various cities quarterly for business. Several times the hotel I stay at is a crapshoot and wifi is spotty. The last time the wifi was down like every other day, which made after hours a bore.

I'm glad the end key and caps issue was resolved.

Slow going here on the laptop.. don't have the proper software.. doing things manually

Probably put an x where there should be a y..

I'm testing it with I607UCGF1 eboot and phone.. so if/when I manage to get it working i'd say thats a good baseline.. but someone can always test with older bootloaders and phone.. never know until you try. Hopefully rom isnt tied to phone ver in final.. previous vers have not been.

I just opened it in azureus, went to files, and prioritized the ones i want. let me know if your getting on so i can seed

Oh and as far as installation of scummvm goes just place it in its own folder on your storage card, then when you have games put their folder in the scummvm folder and when it autoscans it will find them. wasd moves the cusor p and backspace are left and right click by default

ya'll know there was a ~100 page post with many complaints about AT&T's delivery of WM6 for the Bjack hence our efforts here. Now there is a protected topic (so it does not show up in Google for new unsuspecting customers to see) that is again ~100 pages. Most of which would have NEVER appeared if AT&T had officially stated other than the announcement at CTIA the Bjack was even getting WM6, this URL was posted : http://www.wireless.att.com/busines...requestid=31563

some time in 3Q2007 is the delivery ...

Testing is going good so far. Uploading to txcaesar's server, ETA is 20 minutes.

No one's tried this but me, so blame my dog if it explodes your left toe.

Please post your experiences here. After a short break I will begin work on a cooked version with more features and whatnot such as the BMW bugfix and OBEX FTP.. and hopefully internet connection sharing..

I put my paypal info in the readme in case anyone feels like donating.. but hey we've all been waiting for this release anxiously, including me :P

it's not the app itself i don't think, it's the Vista modem drivers or whatever. They are different in a way and that's why the program doesn't see the phone and therefore the button never lights up.

The flashing program looks for a specific Vendor string, it looks like:

PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7013&SUBSYS_86401071&REV_A0\3&61AAA01&0&16

If someone can give me that string from their driver in vista I can probably modify the flasher to look for that instead.

Ack, the upload just stopped at 94%

I resumed the file transfer, hope my client(flashfxp) and the site dont corrupt it.. if they do it just means I get to update my readme and upload again :P

in xp its device manager, you right click the device and go properties, its in one of the tabs there.. you'll need to do it with the device turned to flashing mode and plugged in. The file size is smaller than 80mb because the phone and eboot roms are not included, and the flasher is seperate from the bin.

how do i exit flash mode? it says usb initial ok and pc connection FAIL. since the id has been posted is there a way to just exit?

No way to exit flash mode, pull the battery.
USB Connection FAIL on the phone side means that USB cable is working, but flasher program is not listening for it on PC side. Probably because its looking for the wrong dev-ID.
I am looking into vista compatibility right now, but probably wont have much luck since I don't have it installed currently..

Good to hear, you're the first one to verify a bootup

I am comparing the UCGF1 rom to the UCGI3 rom now to see what's new.. so far it looks like there has been nothing significant added, mostly bugfixes. BT stack is one of the more significant changes so it is certainly possible that it's been fixed.

PDA rom is held in a seperate partition on the phone from eboot and phone rom, think of it as formatting the drive on your computer.. while it's possible to make windows not boot up, it's extremely difficult to cause damage bad enough where you won't be able to install windows again.

Similarly even if you drop the battery out of the phone during the flashing process, you can still flash back with a known good version since the flasher i am using does not modify the bootloader. I know that from expierience :O Of course there is always a risk. Let other people be the guinea pigs

Im getting the same thing. and my activesync stopped working but thats probably something i did.

dag do we need any version of wm6 installed prior to this or will the standard wm5 do?

Activesync is supposed to be closed through task manager before you initiate the firmware upgrade, it will not be able to listen to the usb port if activesync is open.

Here is modified vista flasher for the 2nd vendor id you provided -

Unknown if upgrading is possible from WM5, be aware eboot and phone versions do not get upgraded, so if you upgrade from WM5 you will still have the UCGB4 eboot and phone rom. Only scenario I have tested is upgrading from UCGF1 > UCGI3.

Have you app unlocked before trying to install facade? Security permissions may be tighter on this rom, I will investigate.

Since you said this is the PDA part then that means the radio ROM doesn't get updated or changed for that matter? I noticed i got better signal with the other ROM so maybe i'd flash back to that one and use the PDA for "final"

I have good reception on wm5, supposing it would install over that, wouldn't this make it the ideal situation? did the one you have get better signal than wm5? i usually have 4-5 bars constantly

Right, radio rom does NOT get updated with this release, only PDA rom.

I too have observed WM5 phone rom to be perform very well, I might try going with that combination myself.

Too bad the little patch I tried didnt work, I guess there's a bigger reason samsung says in big bold red letters NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VISTA, hehe.

You will lose everything you currently have stored on the PDA when you install, as with any ROM update. Back up anything you want to keep!

im going to install it from an xp computer tomorrow morning, do i need the modem update on samsungs site or just dag's updater?

Ill let you guys know if it works with wm5, but im bringing f1 just in case

do i need my sim card in to update? i might just move my contacts to that and pull it, or would the update even touch that?

What version of Facade did you try to install? I installed 1.31 and it works just fine.

I updated from the F1 and Facade 1.31 gave the installation unsuccessfull error. I app unlocked and then it was fine.

hmmm....so far i have been able to install the new firmware, but i can't install anyprogram other than opera mini. so far i tried tetris, google maps, TCMP, and windows live search and they all start to install but then when finished just says it was unsuccessfull. anyone else having this problem??

Same here when running the cab files. I think the phone needs to be app unlocked to get these apps to work.

Are you app unlocked? Security is higher in this ROM and application unlocking is a must. This will be one of the things changed in my modded roms..

no problems to speak of, I guess I should have said I app unlocked my phone first thing just after the data Sync...I have all my normal apps up and running with no issues. I have not done any of my normal registry changes like putting email on my SD card and extending the number of sessions IE can have as well as the memory tweaks... nor am I running OMAPCLOCK...the phone is very responsive and I have no RF problems (did this upgrade from the second ROM).

I have noticed the Get MobiTV link is missing

I upgraded to the June WM6 release a couple of days ago and although I know I tried Cellular Video (to see if it would go full screen) and it was fine, it's now not working and I am getting the message that I need to upgrade to a MediaNet package that supports CV. I've always had MEdiaMax Unlimited w/200 messages plan which supports CV and never had a problem. I don't know if this is related to that upgrade or not. Is anyone else having the same problem now? Anyone know of a fix?

Jay, it might be CV, it works for me then stopped then now it's working. If you go and browse any other site and it is still fine, then it might be CV, like 3 days ago they were doing some maintenance as well.

Anyone else notice that with the Office Mobile 6.1 that comes included (can open Office 2007 docs without that patch) that it also can manage ZIP files now? I put 2 dummy files on my SD card for Word 2007 and Excel 2007 and also that I600_WM6_IIS.zip file and this time i saw the icon was there and i was able open it and browse it's contents!!

Now someone, how do i get rid of that stupid Pixel viewer? hehe Excel 2007 files open by default in Excel mobile but i don't think Excel 2003 files do.

I just tried this ROM and it isn't working for me. What I mean by that is that I follow the directions. I start the ROM loader program. I put the phone in Format Mode where I can press 1 to Format or any other key to skip. I KILL activesync via ctrl-alt-del and task manager. I plug the phone into my USB cable and nothing happens the Download button remains grey'd out.

This is on an IBM T42 laptop running Windows XP SP2

Any clues???
I went through task manager killing any task I didn't recognize thinking that something else might be blocking the USB port but nothing seemed to make a difference.

Am I doing something wrong?

Huh? What press 1 to format?

Did you put your phone in Modem mode to install the modem drivers? Go to:

Start - Settings - Connections - USB = Modem.

Plug in your phone and put in the CD or download the drivers from samsung site. Then once those drivers are installed. Turn OFF the phone, Press the Camera button (one on the side) and the RIGHT Soft key and then press the power button (all the sametime.) The phone will pop up with a black screen and that's when you launch the app (if it wasn't done before) and then plug in your phone. It'll then connect and the start download button will light up.

Oh and i have a T42 also - 2374-K5U so that's not your problem.

Thanks guys (in regards to the CV problem). On another note, the June update seems fine with a couple of exceptions that I have noticed thus far (in comparison to WM5). I am wondering if the following is fixed with the latest Rom:

1) Hitting the call button brings up contacts rather than call log.
2) When an email or message comes through the right button that says 'Contacts' does not change to say messages.
3) Scrolling seems much slower especially in PIE with images.
4) The holding in of keys does not act as the function + Key but I know this is fixed already.

Thanks again for everyone's efforts in getting these roms out so we can enjoy WM6 as we should have months ago!

1) hitting the call button brings up the Call Log once you've mad calls. In WM6 the Call info is a lil different because it integrates with the Contacts. That way you can see the last few times you've called 1 person without scrolling down a list of 400 calls.

2)Yea i dind't get any text yet with the final version but i noticed that since the first beta of WM6. Kinda a mind annoyance but not even close to make my go to WM5 again (i didn't eve use WM5 on my BJ, as soon as i opened the box i flashed it to the beta)

3) i was hoping that would be somewhat fixed too in final. I remember on my AT&T 3125 scrolling hofo was much smoother and faster but not so on WM6 it seems.

4) Well yeah, it's fixed

CV is working for me ..... the speed of IE is fine for me as well... maybe I am just expecting it to be slow since I am not overclocking yet... menu speed seems normal and so does IE scrolling...

one more observation, the memory usage in this sep rom is much less than the June ron, so that's a good sign.

got my stereo bluetooth working with the phone, and voice command still working the same as the june rom.

i haven't had problem with the 'limitation' of mp3 songs to be used as ringtone yet.

MDIFILM and others says voice command works no problem via Bluetooth.

I guess there's still that bug of the phone not displaying H when using HSPDA even tho the phone is doing it because i get good speeds. That's in the "Phone" part tho i guess right? Hmm, i'm using Beta "1" (April) and i think it displayed the H then so yeah, guess it's in the "PDA" part of the ROM. Hey DA_G, check that out? What's different with the ROMs as to why it doesn't?

Oh and also, what makes the G/E/3G/H icon have a white background vs none (white text)? I rather it with the white background. Also can we make it say U instead of 3G? hehe

It's probably just contained in some dll somewhere, it can most likely be easily replaced (the 3g icon)

Ok I must be confused as to what 3 buttons those are. It says:

"hold right soft key, side arrow key, power key at once while powered off"

Ok so I have my phone off.
I press and hold the right soft key (the one just above the red hang up key and to the right of the 4 way directional pad)
Meanwhile I read the side arrow key to mean either the left or right arrow on the 4 way silver wheel, I've beenholding it to the right because with one finger I can hold down that and the right soft key. At first I thought he meant either the volume up or down key but when I hold those nothing happens.
And of course I combine with power key.

Doing that combo puts me into Format mode.

So which key am I getting wrong?

Nevermind I found it, the "right arrow key" is really the "Cancel or Back button on the right hand side of the phone just below the scroll wheel"

Now it is in USB downloader mode Xcingular v1.2 and after finding the phone the download button lit up and I am currently downloading the new ROM.

Ok phone upgraded, seems to work fine thus far but I haven't app unlocked it yet (where is the app to do that btw?) so I haven't loaded any apps back, etc. just letting activesync bring back contacts and handshake with the exchange server currently...

1. What do you need to make a "cooked" rom, and is it difficult to do for someone who hasn't done it before?

i used to post on a 3d forum where you would upload pictures a lot and to get around the size limit if you have a photoshop type program, just save it as a jpeg with probably no progressive scans and a setting of maybe 8. it should give you an estimated size, so just go by that. you also might have to resize the picture. Im assuming this is for a signature? 14k is extremely low resolution.

Ok so im about to go install the one released last night, but before i go, does it matter if the computer is cluttered? its 2.4ghz and probably 512 ram but hasn't been cleaned up in awhile. (not my computer, I format it all the time)

dadditude: A ROM kitchen is required to cook ROMs. I have assembled a crude version with the help from a number of people on XDA dev, it is not user friendly at all yet, only functional. I will likely make a public release soon. Anyone know what hofo's position on cooked roms is? I'll put it on xda if not here..

Not unless you've got something on there messing with the USB ports or PNP detection.. or a virus that infects the flasher might cause a problem..

I'm going to guess that it'll work fine tho.. as long as the computer isnt running so badly that it cant keep a steady stream of data on the usb port.

So far no luck with ICS. Hammering away at it though! Right now im trimming down the rom's size by removing translation files etc to make room for added features..

A couple of items I have noticed with regard to messaging and Exchange.

1) Even though I tell it to save a copy in the sent items, if you go to the sent items folder on the device it is empty. This was true under WM5 too, but I had hoped that WM6 would have fixed that.

2) I seem to recall a way to select how much of a message you wanted to download, such as headers only, first 5kb, etc. in WM5 but I cannot seem to locate that in WM6 now. Anyone know where it is?

3) Last, but not least, is there still no good way to search the email in your Inbox?? On my crackberry I can search for someone's name, text in the subject line or message body, etc. to locate a specific email. I would have thought that WM6 would have added this, did it not? Oh and speaking of Blackberry, is there a way to load the Blackberry connect client on WM6 or is it there and I'm not seeing it?

Kudos to those that are putting this together. You guys deserve a big pat on the back for doing this.

I have a little bit of experience installing ROM's. I've re-flashed my old 8125 a half dozen times with ROMS from XDA-Dev. It's brought new life to my 8125 (HTML email and the improvements to PIE alone are enough to justify the risk of bricking, IMHO), and I actually prefer it with its cooked WM6 to my OEM Blackjack, even though I far prefer the form factor and convenience of the BJ.

I've been following this BJ WM6 saga for months, and about at my wits end waiting for AT&T/Samsung to actually release it. So I'm downloading this cooked ROM and may try to flash it sometime soon.

But I have a couple of questions that I wonder if anyone would be so nice as to answer....

1) With my 8125, I had to CID unlock it first, and then install a different ROM version (T-Mobile, I believe) before flashing it with the cooked WM6. Is a similar procedure necessary with the BlackJack? Or is it just a 1) put BJ in format mode, 2) run EXE, 3) watch progress bar kind of operation?

2) Is there a path to get back to the OEM Rom if I don't like the cooked WM6 one? I know over on the XDA-dev side with the HTC devices there were ample links to download OEM ROMs as well as utilities for backing up the ROM yourself. Not much of that here....

3) What is the final status of ICS? ICS with the OEM WM5 on my BJ works great via USB cable on my Vista notebook, but not via the bluetooth PAN. I know that BT support in Vista is a little bit flaky, but part of the problem lies with the BJ OEM software. I've tried older XP SP2 Widcomm stack in Vista, with no success. I've tried other products such as PDA Connect, also with zero success. However, my cooked-rom WM6 8125 works perfectly via USB, BT DUN and BT PAN on the same Vista machine with the Microsoft BT stack. And I mean flawlessly perfect. That leads me to believe that the BT PAN w/ Vista problems are not entirely Vista's fault and may be an incompatibility with something in the BJ BT implementation. I'm curious if the bluetooth stack on the BJ with this cooked WM6 ROM will be better than the OEM WM5sk3 ROM.

As an update to my own list I found that in ActiveSynch on my desktop I could choose to synch the Sent Items folder, as well as to change the message download size and the size of attachments. I guess that's all done via AS on the desktop now and not anything on the device itself.

A few things i've noticed after running it for a night.

1- Bluetooth no longer works with my pioneer Avic-d3 with BTB200 (worked OK with regular WM5 release never tried with D2 or F1 but with I3 no worky). I starts to pair and then on the Pioneer it comes up and says invalid device. I'm going to play with this some more. Any thoughts on this from the crowd?

2 - Missed calls and the right soft key. When I missed a call with WM5 the right softkey changed from a contacts button to a call history button, this was a nice feature.

3 - new messages and right soft key. When I got a new email or txt message with WM5 the right softkey would turn into a messages button (and it would actually take you to the account that the message was recieved in).

Hmmm...just noticed an issue with LiveSearch and the I3 rom. I can download the cab file from the Microsoft site, but when it tries to install, it says "Installation was unsuccessfull." I was able to install it with the F1 rom...thoughts??

So please excuse my ignorance and a general lack of interest in reading the last 50- 100 pages. As someone coming over from the herded cattle forum on AT&T, can I download the ROM and use the same basic procedure for upgrading that is posted out on Samsung's site?

P.S. Hello Shansmi, I appreciate you giving us cattle an little hope. It would seem to me that that unless an official release is made soon it will probably dry up over there and most folks will begin to look elsewhere for upgrade options.

Hmm...deleted the LiveSearch cab, rebooted phone and tried to install again from the MS site, and still a no-go. If someone else gets it to work let me know. Seemed to install ok with F1 two days ago.

I have no problem using livesearch, have you tried going to wls.live.com and get the latest one?

I just installed it on my, did you application unlock your phone (and reboot) before install?

Ok so shoot me...its off topic....I cant get facade to work...it wont take my username and key...and i have checked and rechecked..installed, uninstalled and reinstalled....im dying over here! Any help would be much appreciated. (thats a hint...)

Well, ICS is being a pain. Workin on that still. I'll release a ROM of it first then do a cab later if/when I get it working 100%.. it's easier for me that way..

I don't have facade so i'll be of no help there. I seem to recall a RefreshRSK program from the wm5 rom that handled the changing of the right soft key, i'll see if I can mod that in too.

Wow 5000 hits, I wonder if at&t realizes how much demand they have going for this thing..

5000 hits, would be interesting to sift through the IP's and see if maybe anyone at At&t is DLing. Since Da_G did the work for them they can maybe they'll officially release your release :-)

Before I go through with this, can anyone confirm that the app-unlock will work with xp-sp1? I saw it say in the i607 Hack Wiki that the program needs to run in sp2 compatibility mode which sp1 does not have as a selection. Someone on there wrote that he tried it but it would not unlock the phone.

Just flash back to the old rom, you should be able to get the old wm5 rom at samsung's support website under FAQ section.

MS Live search is working fine for me but I did App unlock my phone before doing anything else but a Sync...and you have to have your name as well as email address just as you used when purchasing the program in the phone itself under \Start\Settings\Owner Info...

i went from wm5 upgrade rom to ucgf1 to ucgi3 and right now I'm loving it. Once ICS is available as cab, I think I'm set.

2nd ROM everything but PDA with the 3rd ROM as PDA... I have been impressed with the battery life and lack of IE dieing so far - been hitting data pretty hard trying to break it...I turned on ClearType in IE, set the temp Int files and downloads to my SD card as well as set the IE sessions to 8 from 4 to speed things up a bit... all can be done from w/i SK Tools Standard ...

I'm running the first ROM (april) plus UCGI3. Works great so far, i had UCGF1 on there but i flashed to UCGD2 first then upgraded to UCGI3 to get the better radio (IMO). I wish we could test the UCGI3 Radio but for now we'll just have to use this

Seeing as how the Blackjack update was on the AT&T site for about three minutes, and we've come up with our own solution, I think we should make a new thread. 107 pages is a bunch, especially for people coming in here still thinking that they in fact did release it.

Maybe the mods can rename the thread to "Blackjack WM6 Technical and Release Info" to bring it on-topic with the added benefit of having all the good info in one place.

The only reason I didn't post a new thread here is that on HoFo you cant update posts after a couple hours.. that drove me nuts when I was releasing new versions of the w810i firmware frequently.

Ah, it feels good to be back on my home computer with an internet connection that doesnt go down every 5 minutes and some decent speed.. now I can do some real work on that rom.. well before I go get ready for election tuesday that is.. gotta set up my polling site for tomorrow. Oh yeah, go vote :P
