I am considering a BlackJack and want to know anyone's experience with:
1. Success in tethering to a MacBook (Intel, but no slots for an aircard)
2. Success in tethering via Bluetooth to a MacBook
3. Real life speed and durability of the connection
I appreciate anyone who can give me some help. I want to know if it is worth it to try it with my MacBook, or just breakdown and buy a MacBook Pro and get an aircard.

1.) Yes easily done search for a guide on google, uses blackberry 3G drivers. Succesful via USB
2.) No, Blackjack doesn't have DUN profile, only the newer PAN (personal area network) protocal that isn't support in OSX yet
3.) Decently fast, but there is some latency there. Its not quite as fast as when I use my Sierra aircard in my thinkpad.
Something to note is that in modem mode the phone cannot be charged via USB so it runs down the battery pretty fast.

As of Mac OS X 10.4.9, the Bluetooth stack has been updated to include PAN.

1) Yes, I set it up in about 5 minutes using this guide.

2) As of 10.4.9, OS X supports PAN; however, the Blackjack does not make it easy. Yet, it's not exactly hard. There's no application shortcut for the Internet Sharing application, so you have to go digging for it.
First
* Pair your Blackjack to your MacBook
On your Blackjack
* Start, Applications, File Explorer
* Navigate to \Windows
* Look for the application "Internet Sharing"
* Start it and set the PC Connection to "Bluetooth PAN"
* Set the Network Connection to "Media Net"
* Press the left soft-key to Connect
On your MacBook
* Click the Bluetooth Menu Bar icon
* Click 'Join Network on SGH-i607'
3) On HSDPA networks, I've tested speeds of up to 1.1 mbps from the back of a Ford Excursion driving down I-95 in Ft Lauderdale. Pretty friggin cool. It works great for mobile connectivity.
A note on #2. I'm having an issue with web browsing the internet at all on my Blackjack, but I'm reluctant to call Cingular. I have the MM200 plan. The connection in my area keeps going in and out. I know it's popping in from time to time, because I'll get email on my phone occasionally, but I can't seem to open any web pages.
While I've successfully connected my MacBook and Blackjack, I have not yet actually browsed the internet. However, I know that the two are connected using PAN, because I checked the network utility, and I'm getting an IP address (192.168.0.221). The auto assigned IP address range in OS X is 10.n.n.n. I've actually watched the interface go active.

Ok, so I just got it working. I deleted and recreated my Cingular WAP proxy in my phone and now web browsing works again. I connected via the method I outlined above, and everything is golden.
Just a tip, if you plan on using this often, you'll want to copy the Internet Sharing shortcut to your \Windows\Start Menu folder for easy access. You can do that by connecting the Blackjack to a PC, copying the Internet Sharing shortcut to your desktop, then copying it to the Start Menu folder, or you can use the File Browser to Copy and Paste it.
I'm on EDGE here at home, so I can't vouch for speed, but I'll be sure to test it out the next time I'm in HSDPA territory.
