I finally got around to setting up my Gmail and AOL on my Wing but when I do a send/receive I get an "Error Synchronizing"

Anyone know whats up?

I cant survive without my email.

my gmail works fine. let it set up the email for you, and auto enter your settings. i also forward the gmail to the hotmail for push, even though im not a fan of hotmail.

it actually works well, but it took me a while to figure out how to make it work quick

So I hoped on to a WiFi connection and my email connected just fine and loaded my messages. But I still get the sync error when it is on my edge.

Did you set it to use T-Mobile data or internet? Because it has to be T-Mobile data (at least if you're using the proxy).

I got it running. I had to set it up manually w/o using the wizard setup. Does anyone know how to get it from sending me the emails that I sent? I always get a new email from myself shorty after sending... Annoying

The way Gmail works, the e-mails are threaded, so every time you create an e-mail from the web based interface (and apparently from the Wing) it starts out as a new thread in your inbox. When it does that, every time you download your inbox the new messages show up on the device you are downloading your Gmail to (Outlook, Wing, etc...).

Has anyone been able to successfully use the Gmail (Java) Application on their Tmobile Wing? After installing the Java Midlet from Google, it starts to run, but then I get a message stating that "Your phone doesn't have the appropriate certificate to communicate with the server". Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a question: when someone sends me an email I get a text notification from"701" telling me an email has been sent to me. Can this be stopped and also is it eating up my messages, as I don't have an unlimited messaging plan? Thanks for your help in advance!

im not sure why my gmail doesnt seem to work. i had the phone set it up, but it says i have nothing in my inbox. when i use gmail on pc i have plenty.

i did successfully set up yahoo.

my question is: without a message plan, am I being charged for every email that I recieve on my phone?

also, when i connect the wing to my home wifi and use IE to go to gmail or yahoomail, am I charged when sending or recieving?

Email is data not sms. If you don't have a data plan you can't use email, unless you're lucky enough to get free data (some people supposedly still do).

If you connect to your wifi t-mo won't even know what the hell you're doing on your phone so they couldn't charge you even if they wanted to.

My gmail account would not work at all

So I set up another one that worked but had the problems of erasing all the emails everytime I sent an email, and of getting the messages I sent back in my inbox (which is to be expected).

Customer support said they have trouble with gmail and cannot always fix it.

I tried this and it works great now..

Now you can auto-configure Gmail from your Pocket PC phone:
Press Start and scroll to Messaging.
Select Menu > Tools > New Account.
Enter your e-mail address
In the Auto configuration screen, wait until the Status changes from Connecting to Completed.
Select Next.
Enter your name, user name, and password. If you want your smartphone to save your password, so you won’t have to enter it every time you want to check your mail, check the box next to Save password.
Select Next.
Ensure Account type is set to POP3.
Select Next.
Make sure that Incoming Mail is set to pop.gmail.com:995
Make sure that Outgoing Mail is set to smtp.gmail.com:465
Select Finish.
Select Yes to confirm that you would like to download mail for this new account now.

To view your latest messages on your Pocket PC phone, select Menu > Send/Receive.

Automatically Forward Gmail to Another Account
To set up automatic forwarding, follow these steps:
Log in to your Gmail account from your PC.
Select Settings at the top of any Gmail page
Select Forwarding and POP in the orange Mail Settings box.
Select Forward a copy of incoming mail and enter the e-mail address to which you'd like your e-mail forwarded.

Now your Gmail will automatically be forwarded to this account.

Access Gmail from the Internet
If you don't subscribe to an unlimited data plan—or need only occasional access to your Gmail account—you may prefer to access your Gmail from your Pocket PC phone using Internet Explorer. To access your account through Internet Explorer, go to http://m.gmail.com.

1 - didn't work well for me - even after calling support (see post above)
2 - I could do this I suppose this is a viable solution
3 - To read I prefer to access it though internet. To send I use the pop3 setup (but the receive part works poorly).

Ditto... the pop3 thing is doing the same for me. I can send no problem, but it never collects my email, and its all set up as exactly written above. Forwarding works.. but then when you want to reply to a message, its not ocming from your gmail its coming from the addy you forwarded too. And 3 works but i like instant info... i had a Sidekick which Gmail worked just fine on... so going to this where it doesnt, sucks.

Okay I FINALLY got Gmail set up on my phone and it's actually downloaded the messages as well as sending. If you go through the new account set up and enter a gmail account, for your login/user id (forget exactly what its called) it automaticaly made mine "recent:xxxxx@gmail.com" and i had been deleting the recent: part of it when trying to get it all configured. So for kicks i thought i'd leave it, sure enough it works. Looks like a weird log in but hey i guess there's a reason it showed up that way, its how it has to be.

Holy crap JRHollywood!!! You're right, I was doing the same thing removing the recent: and now I left it and it works, getting email now!!!! Thanks man.
