Considering Sprint, but no decent CDMA smartphones?

I've been considering Sprint after 4 great years of T-mobile.
I've been happy with T-mobile, but they've been very slow at adapting new technology lately (3G anyone?), and their prices (albeit good) can't compare with the SERO plans from Sprint, especially with unlimited EVDO. So, it may be time for change.
My only hesitation:
Phone selection!
I'm spoiled by GSM phones that come in every shape and size. CDMA phones seem to have far less selection, and therefore its harder to find something that fits MY needs.
Personally, I absolutely LOVE the HTC Tornado (in the form of a T-mobile SDA) smartphone. IT'S ACTUALLY SHAPED LIKE A PHONE! There is nothing like this on Sprint- hasn't been since the old Samsung clamshell smartphone that failed... (the name escapes me, i600 maybe?)
Yet I'm considering something greater and cheaper, especially since I'm out of contract at the moment. I'm trying to figure out all the pros and cons of switching.
So, to me it looks like the closest thing available on Sprint is the Moto Q. Does anyone have an opinions of the Q vs the SDA? I don't like the Qwerty look (always hated blackberrys), and I even sold my T-mobile Dash upgrade to go back to the SDA. But if the Q is better in other ways, I may overlook the shape.
Is it just me, or is the Q actually longer and akward looking compared to other qwerty smartphones (blackjack, dash, etc...)?
PS. I originally posted this in the Sprint forum, but found that Sprint users don't really understand what a smartphone is (started suggesting I wait for the PPC 6800 / Titan... WTF?).

I upgraded from the SDA to the Q, and I love it. Its much thinner, it has a full keyboard, the processor is faster, it has 3G, the speakerphone is great, and the screen is bigger.
What's not to love? Well, the battery life is atrocious, and it has all of the same WM5 quirks, but overall I wouldn't go back. I don't miss the phone-like shape of the SDA at all, although WM needs another redesign to fit efficiently into a landscape screen. Almost everything is designed for portrait, which sucks.
