Do you need 3G? If no, then I'd go for the iPhone.

You should wait until the iphone gets released first so that you can try it out and decide for yourself if it's what you want

There was some contest a few weeks/months back where you could "win" a free Apple iPhone, and it listed them as $300 and $400 values, and MacRumors.com reported on it, and within a few hours, whomever the runner of the contest requested MR to have the story removed.

Also, MR reported on a rumor that there'd be a hefty rebate on the thing, too. I'll find links for you later.
