NO MMS on AT&T pearl?

so i have a family plan and upgraded my dad's phone to the pearl. he had some old moto before.

question - i sent him a couple picture texts and he never got them. and looking through the menus on the pearl, there's no option to SEND a picture text. do you have to subscribe to the BLACKBERRY plan in order to send/receive picture texts? he was getting picture texts no problem with his old phone.

Yes, the BB plan is required.

You don't need a blackberry plan for MMS, only a Media pkg w/txt/mms and wireless internet. You can always choose the ppu features.

On a Blackberry? The only way any data goes out on the device is through the RIM server (even for MMS) and a standard MediaNet plan wouldn't add that as far as I know.

If you are not using the RIM server then the ppu option would work. The media pkg would work if you are using it for MMS/txt only. If you use it for internet tethering, that wold raise a red flag.

shouldn't the media package be ok for MMS/SMS/INTERNET? i understand if i tether that would raise some concerns, but i should be able to use it for unlimited internet along with MMS and SMS right?

my wife has a pearl, the only time we were ever able to send pic's was when they had her on a BB plan. I had her on a 5mb & text plan and was still unable to get a pic sent. I was able to hook up opera mini and surf on it but no pic text.

Side note her friend with t-mobile was told that she can send pics without BB plan w/t-mobile, not sure if it's true or not.
